American writer and poet; Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe, the American writer, and poet that mastered the real realm of literature were regarded as a father and a superior man in the field of literature in the United States. This came as a result of his mysterious creativity and expanded knowledge in the. The father of tales and short stories he was and therefore, in this a paper I have decided to look keenly and study three of his works, i.e.
The Raven
The Fall of the House of Usher
The black cat
The Raven
Being a poem that became it his at the late time of lost life, the raven is a sweet and entertaining poem about a man who had lost the love of his life. He was full of sorrow, as he was sobbing in the house, some raven shows up, and he started expressing the sad and painful feeling to the raven. Critical analysis of these stories reveals how human sometimes feels lonely. This fulfills, and the common phrase by other literature form other guys that say “no man stands alone and no man is an island.” Despite the stubbornness of the raven, the speaker still understands the need to open up and talk to the raven, a friend so near and closer than a brother! Going with the analysis, the central theme of the poem revolves around the pain of losing loved one, depression associated with the same, anxiety, and grief that can attend to someone in the time of psychological imbalance state of mind.
Wallowing in the miasma of grief, the power of death can drive a man crazy; the psychological response on the same is also dependent on the environment (Girgus, Sam). As depicted by Poe, raven stands in the position of a non-reasoning creature; this a power that matches the intended theme of the poem; this has made this story popular and famous. The challenges and pain of losing a loved one must have been felt in one way or another in life, raven in the story is a true picture of a comforter, this observed in stanza 7 where that it comes and patched in the goddess of wisdom and says its name is ‘nevermore’, a spirit of a real friend in the times of scrapes. The power and incredible ability to twist and to bring lessons that target all groups and categories is observed in the poem. A spirit of persistence is observed in the scene as the raven refuses to leave, the comradeship during hard times seems to be the culture of the day, and the main theme of the poem.
The Fall Of The House Of Usher
Being published in the early times of 1839, this short story has remained one of the best and most famous in the United States, courtesy, and Edgar Allan Poe. The physical fall and a metaphorical fall of the family is the main story in this story (Timmerman, John H). Therefore analysis of the keen capability of Edgar and his work is revealing and displays qualities of a good. The cultural look and belief setup attached to the tradition is captured in the story and this sis attached to the fall and collapse of the house. Poe displays a toxic relationship in Usher family and Roderick and Madeline’s results of the incest that has long been traced in the family. Poe informs that generation after generation of the importance of obeying cultures and drawing clearly the boundary that exists between the family members and limits unto which you can’t go beyond. This tells of how Poe was a believer in the prosperity and general wellbeing of everyone in the family. This qualities still puts him a notch higher amongst other authors, a short story that tells a lot about good social being is one that must have various style and paradox that demands a deeper understanding of every literature styles and features. The symbolic use of the use to re-present the physical deterioration of the two characters in family, because of the constant and genetically incest act that has been between them quite a number of time. These are Roderick and Madeline. This power of symbolism has a unique way to ensure that the message is adequately covered and is received by all audiences. Another symbolism is yet seen before the story sinks deep in the atmosphere. The upside nature and appearance and reflection of the physical house explain the inclined and corrupt thinking of the Usher. A decaying house has a unique way of corrupting minds with unrealistic scenarios. This must have been the reason has to why the house is falling; the Usher is just observing, this means there was some worms in the brain of the central pole of the house ‘Usher’. House falling to the ground means the death of the culprits an abomination, Roderick and Madeline. Without much consideration of the real fact, Roderick buries her sister alive, a situation that shows and unethical and unlawful act. Bring up a child in the ways he/she should go, and when he/she is old, he will never depart for it. Usher is depicted as the character who is fully responsible for the collapse and fall of the physical house and death of the two Roderick and his sister Madeline. The articulation of the themes in this story is perfectly matched and blended to enable readers to connect madness, supernatural, and insanity. Poe finally tries to display a picture of governance and management of the family affairs to avoid such situations as finding Madeline and Roderick.
The Black Cat.
Being a book that is narrated by an unreliable narrator, the black cat portrays major them of violence. Poe is using a horrific and abuse style of narration; we see different styles and symbolism that are good for analysis and examination. In this family, the black cat is seen on the wall, and its color draws attention (Stark, Joseph). It is a symbolic nature that tries to communicate a decaying soul. The black color is associated with darkens; this is true in the storyline of ‘the black cat.’ This did bring some thought of destruction in the mind of the narrator. Poe tries to hide the sense that there was some crime; blood is a major and a concerning indicator of crime. Blood in the mouth in means there was some hidden incidences of crime. This time author is unfair with the readers; rather he is trying a room for wondering what could have happen. (Suspense). The appearance of Pluto in the bedroom when the room is already burned. The analysis takes bring into seen, the tone that was used in the book. This ranges from the mocking, dramatic, anguished, and urgent tone. These explain the real message and the associated weight and seriousness. In paragraph one, the explanation of a day before death discloses the urgency of the message and the tone that is associated.
Confusion and mix up of the lifestyle that is seen to have been affecting the mind of the narrator, alcoholism is seen in the picture and this thought to have changed everything and corrupt at the same time.
Conclusion
Edgar Allan Poe, a super wise and intelligent man he was. The father of literature and detective fiction, all the analysis is done are based on the original work of Poe and the commentary derived from the secondary source.

This Journal decently describes and explains how Poe is able take traditional Gothic Literature and turn it into something different from the tradition gothic literature. Voloshin describes the use of supernatural beings to portray themes of self-conflict. Poe puts a twist on traditional ways, making him unforgettable. The author also mentions Poe’s use of destruction and death to end/guide his stories. This is seen in the short stories of the fall of the house usher. A shift in paradigm has been the major scenario according to Voloshin. Voloshin also mentions that Poe is able to use setting not only for imagery but as a symbol for the power of self-conflict. This particular source deems to be useful in my research about Poe’s themes. For Poe the use of death and confusion is a trademark. This journal is relevant and timely as far the work of Poe imagery unique application symbolism is concerned.
Girgus, Sam. “POE AND R. D. LAING: THE TRANSCENDENT SELF.” Studies of Short Fiction, vol. 13, no. 3, 1 June 1979, pp. 299–309. Literary Reference Center.
This journal gives a very detailed explanation of Poe’s ability to use supernatural instances to project certain themes. The journal offers multiple views to take on some of Poe’s short stories. For instance, the author mentions the short story “William Wilson”, a story about conflict with ones alter ego. Girgus explains to the reader that this is an ongoing theme of Poe’s and goes into further detail about how these ideas can be interpreted. They would be helpful if included in the final paper as it explains the theme of self-conflict in multiple ways.
