Dule Hill, who is a well-known tap dancer, producer and also an actor was born in New Jersey to Jamaican parents Bertholomu Hillshire and Jennifer………… At the age of only ten years, Dule got his first theatrical break after the producer of Breadway musical cast Hill as an understudy to the star dancer Savion Glover. In the year 1993, when he was in his final year at high school, He made an appearance in a feature film named Sugar Hill. Around the year 1989, when Broadway was producing Black and Blue, it was when Hill was introduced to Cholly Atkins, Henry LetTang and Fayard Nicholas and he had a privilege to perform with George Hillman, Jimmy Slyde and Lon Chaney. According to……….Dule Hill joined Savion Glover’s original cast in 1996 where he won the Tony Award from ‘Bring ‘da Noise, Bring ‘da Funk’. His next career boost as a tap dancer came in 1999 when he performed with Freddie Prinze Jr. in the feature film ” She’s All That and Love Songs”. In the year 2011, Dule Hill made a come back to Broadway to star “Stick Fly” produced by Alicia Keyes. Despite his name recognition and enormous popularity is not only an actor on stage actor but also television, he viewed himself as a well-known tap dancer.
As captured by………, Savion Glover was born 1973 at New Jersey. He was an American choreographer and dancer who gained fame for his different style dancing known as “hutting”. At an age of only four years, he had begun attending drumming lessons and there years later he enrolled to tap lessons and this is where he became passionate about tap rhythm. His talent was noticed by a choreographer of Broadway musical and Savion served as an understudy until 1984 when he took the lead role. Five years later he was nominated for Tony Award after a performance in the musical revue “Black and Blue”. At the end of 1989, he performed in ” the motion picture Tap”. In 1990, Savior Glover came up with his first-ever choreography to be performed at a festival taking place at the New York City’s Apollo Theater. Two years later he broke the record and became the youngest dancer to be awarded the National Endowment for the Arts. At the beginning of the year 1995, after “Bring ‘da Noise Bring ‘da Funk”, Savior choreographed the musical which chronicled African American History. This made him move to Broadway and in the next year, ” Bring ‘da Noise, Bring ‘da Funk Tony Awards” among them being choreographer award for Savior Glover.
After watching the video “Bring ‘da Noise Bring ‘da Funk Tony Awards” on youTube I have realised that tap dance is a very great dance to learn from. The dancer learns about syncopation, improvisation and choreography from the dance. From the video, I have realised that someone does not necessarily have to be good in dancing so that he or she can connect with the audience since the rhythm in the video is the one that needs to be shared with every audience. According to me, for tap dance to be easy you just need to have a good attitude and also a lot of fun as evidence in the dancers at the video “Bring ‘da Noise Bring ‘da Funk ” as evidence in Dule Hill and Savior Glover and the other dancers.
I have noticed from the video “Bring ‘da Noise, Bring ‘da Funk Tony Award” on youtube that during a tap dance it is more fun to use tap shoe and drum to give a rhythmic when the dancers are dancing. It is evident that the tap shoes worn by the tap dancers in the video has metal-plate and help in producing click noises. In my own opinion, it can also be more fun when tap dancing is accompanied by other common musical instruments like vibes, drums, trombone, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, bass, piano and a jazz orchestra. As I conclude, as evidence in the video, tap dance is very enjoyable and fun, therefore people should embrace so as they can learn more from the dance.
