Hey Maria,
Thanks for sharing your post, indeed it was great! Advocacy is among the key roles that nurses are expected to play in policymaking, and it involves raising patient concerns and improving equality in terms of access to healthcare. I like your choice for policy meeting since polio eradication is a vital aspect that should be prioritized in all communities. Switching from OPV to IPV can be effective in fighting against polio since IPV does not cause vaccine-induced poliomyelitis, while OPV can be re-activated to cause vaccine-derived poliomyelitis (Ranidu, 2017).

Hello Hyeon,
Thanks for sharing your post with the class. I agree that nurses play an essential role in policymaking since they directly face policy issues as they interact with patients in different settings. I like your idea of conducting weekly meetings to reflect on the strategies that can be improved to facilitate proper clinical practice in the surgical department. Nurses also play a vital role in policy making and can achieve it by joining organizations like the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, which provide necessary platforms and resources that can enable nurses participate in policymaking (Burke, 2016).
