Reactions to change
Different people react differently to the change management process. While some are positive and accept it, others resist it by being negative. An individual can negatively impact the change management process by resting change. When an individual resists change, he or she does not participate in the team. Resistance makes it difficult for the organization to move forward together in implementing the change. To ensure that change fails, an individual can oppose the change. This means that the individual sees nothing good about the change, does not collaborate with others and also, he or she is not interested in understanding what the change is about and its impacts on himself and the organization generally. The management can develop an individual to accept and encourage change by communicating about the change before it happens. The management should prepare the employees by informing them of the change, educating them about it, and being open to the impacts that the change will have of them and the organization. The management should also involve the employees in the change process, where they should listen to them, and include them in decision making. I experienced resistance to change in our organization a few months ago as the management was deciding on how to deliver our services to the patients from home. While some people supported the move to work from home, others insisted that it would be difficult dur to numerous distractions. Others said that it would be ineffective, ad their output would decline. It took a long time to implement this change and to bring people together.

I agree with you that Individuals can negatively impact the change management process when feedback has not been given from the employees prior to the change and they do not know how the change is going to affect them. Involving the employees makes them part of the change, therefore allowing them to accept the change. Ensuring that the employees are part of the change is an effective way to eliminate resistance to change as it makes them part of the change hence embracing it.

It is true that an individual can negatively impact the change management process by not being willing to change. When employees are not willing to change, they influence others not to change, hence not working as a team. The methods you have provided that the management can use to ensure that individuals do not resist change are effective. Setting goals allows the employees to understand their roles in the change, defining change allows that the employees know how the change will impact them and the organization, and listening carefully will allow the management to know the opinion of the employees towards the change.
