Highly Effective Study Habits
Students face a variety of issues in their lives which might pause as a hindrance to their studies. Studying hard by cramming or for longer times does not imply that one is effectively studying. Effective study is depicted when one studies smarter. Thus, the reading provides the basic ways through which one can show effective study skills as well as study habits that matter in a student’s life. The approach and the place of study matters a lot; it offers students good habits of studying. Making a schedule for my studies, keeping healthy and understanding the expectations of a given class is what I identify most as far as my studies and study habits are concerned.
As student, we indulge in a variety of activities both at home and in schools. These activities hinder or make us tired and less active to take part in our studies. However, having a schedule of the ‘to do things’ is essential in planning study time. Exercising and eating a balanced diet helps in building up the brain and relaxing the memory. It is not easy to live a healthy and balanced life whiles still a student, however, practicing and living with the required standards is essential. Lastly, each class and lecturer has its own expectations. Therefore, students ought to talk to their lecturers or professors before a given class commences. In this case, the student will understand the expectations laid a head so that they study accordingly.
An effective study habit I have is practicing on my own and sometimes with my friends. As the old saying goes, one becomes perfect when he or she practices are true. I do practice on my own and sometimes engage my classmates in doing puzzles and quizzes on what we have studied. I like using past papers and past quizzes to train my mind on what I understand and what I do not understand. Furthermore, we have a group of five individuals where we meet during our free time to discuss on what we have learned in class. Group work is an effective study habit that helps one to grasp the content as well sharing the ideas, worries and concerns about a given topic. That is how I have learned how to engage others, argue about a given question and how to take part in group works. I have also compared my notes with those from my friends through group work.
