Canada National Hockey League Teams (NHL)
NHL is a professional ice hockey league in North America, considered among the major professional sports leagues in the United States (US) and Canada. The NHL was founded in1917, in Montreal, Canada, composed of 31 teams, 24 in the US and 7 in Canada. The Canadian Teams are;
==Montreal Canadiens==
Montreal Canadiens that plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, founded in 1909. It tops the list of Stanley Cup Winners, having won the championship 24 times, and 23 times since the founding of the NHL
==Ottawa Senators==
The Ottawa Senators also play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. It was founded in 1992 and won the Division championship four times and the Presidents’ Trophy once.
==Toronto Maple Leafs==
The Toronto Maple Leafs, founded in 1917, also plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference and has won the Stanley Cup Championship13 times.
==Jets in Winnipeg==
The Jets in Winnipeg play in the Central Division of the Western Conference. The franchise began in 1999 as the Atlanta Thrashers but was later bought by True North Sports & Entertainment in 2011, relocated to Winnipeg and renamed Winnipeg Jets.
==The Flames==
The Flames are one of two NHL teams in Alberta. The franchise was founded in 1972 and later relocated to Calgary in 1980. They have won one Stanley Cup, one Presidents’ Trophy, and three Conference championships.
==Edmonton Oilers==
The Edmonton Oilers and Flames are engaged in a rivalry known as the “Battle of Alberta.” The franchise was founded in 1971 and won the Stanley Cup a record five times in seven seasons between 1983-1984 and 1989-1990.
The prestigious Stanley Cup is awarded to the NHL playoffs champions. There have been 25 different NHL champions since 1917. The Presidents’ Trophy is awarded to the team with the most points at the end of the regular NHL season.
