Response to Classmates
Yvette,
I appreciate the idea of you understanding your learning style and focusing on it. It is beyond doubt that this became an eye-opener to you on different angles. I agree with your idea of health literacy. It is valid from your statement that many times health workers forget the notion that patients comprehend information differently and no much follow up is done on the same. I concur with your example that patients only take in the doctor’s information without confirming if there are any alternative resources. This is a very vital element because a patient needs to understand the information given to them. Also, I heartily commend your idea that there is a need to sensitize both patients and their caretakers on understanding their learning style, especially on health matters. It is indeed true that education has nothing with one understanding the diagnosis given, but rather, the key idea is to know how one comprehends the information provided.
Gwendolyn,
What stood out most about your discussion is that you knew your weak areas and vehemently sought out to seek help. It is always an exceptional step to always obtain help passionately as you describe in your paper. Even though you had medical problems, you still made a remarkable step to understand your assignments. The fact that you reached out for help from different people shows your determination to understand your studies. What stood out most for me is that even though you never got the help you needed and your appeals never went through, you never gave up. Through your determination, you were able to acquire Dr. Wilson’s assistance. Similarly, it is very remarkable that you appreciated every little support you got. This clearly shows that every little help you got was a building stone to your success.
Marisa,
You have an exceptional approach to your learning style. It is true from your discussion that online studies indeed involve more of a student’s effort than the professors’. I amend your approach in identifying your weakness and utilizing the online writing center while managing your time efficiently. However, after thoroughly critiquing, I do not entirely agree with your method of studying. You only base your discussion on your grammatical achievement and leaving out organic chemistry which is among your weak subjects. It is a good step accepting your weakness, but at the end of the day, what matters is that you understand and pass all topics. In my opinion, I believe that if your approach to your studies covered all your subjects, you would have attained even a higher grade.
Robert,
Your discussion suggested that an efficient social worker should have a repertoire of skills. This is very true because a social worker is always involved with different sets of people in his or her line of duty. However, I differ with your idea that it is only through social work that one can fully understand individuals. It is indeed a fact that understanding a person is not just about education but also through interacting with them. Social work helps one to interact with the community, however, there are many different channels, with the help of education, in which one can fully understand an individual. In your discussion, it is quite remarkable that you stressed the need for training on what individuals are more receptive to. I however feel like your paper was one-sided and your basis did not fully underline the areas of understanding different people.
