Week 5 Discussion

My Leadership Profile

Evidence from the literature has identified a good nurse leader’s characteristics, but only a few people cultivate them. Being able to identify one’s strengths could help leaders to improve their leadership traits. The StrengthsFinder assessment I did produce results in terms of strengths areas to work one. The findings also created a stunning impression of building my strengths to identify the best opportunities and realize the existential-level quality and well-being. The StrengthsFinder assessment includes empathy, developer, industrialization, activator, and positivity (Strengths Finder: Gallup, 2018).

Core Values

Empathy and positivity are two core values that seem to guide me as a nurse. Empathy is a universal team value that promotes high commitment and cooperation in the workplace. It is the ability to understand another person’s perspective or circumstance, whether you agree with this person or not. Empathetic people are curious and possess a desire to know and understand others. Being positive does not mean being happy or agreeing all the time. What it means what we need people to do is bring energy and enthusiasm to their work. It means being supportive of others, supporting the processes we use, of the clients we work with, and the firm. Positive is about being constructive. In a brainstorm, the absolute worst thing you can do is just shut the door on someone, on a coworker (Marshall & Broome, 2017). Being a good listener is a powerful practice for building positivity that gets overlooked often

Core Strengths

My main core strengths are developer and activator. A person exceptionally talented in the Developer theme recognizes and cultivates the potential in others. They spot the signs of each small improvement and derive satisfaction from the evidence of progress. People with dominant Relationship Building themes like Developer build strong relationships that hold a team together and make it greater than the sum of its parts. A developer’s essence is noticing potential, spotting signs of progress in others, and deriving satisfaction from growth evidence. On the other hand, People exceptionally talented in the Activator theme can make things happen by turning thoughts into action. People with Influencing dominant themes like Activator take charge, speak up, and make sure others are heard (Marshall & Broome, 2017). People exceptionally talented in the Activator theme can make things happen by turning thoughts into action. They want to do something now, rather than talk about them

Areas to Work On

The characteristics I would like to strength are the ability to inspire others and confidence. Transformational leaders are the ones with the ability to motivate and inspire their team members to work towards a common goal. Inspiring team members make the members more productive and complete tasks in a more superior and timely manner. Without confidence, a leader cannot solve problems effectively and communicate the overall vision in an exact, concise, and convincing way (Nichols, 2016). Self-confidence is one of the emotional intelligence skills of transformational and charismatic leaders. These kinds of leaders can motivate their followers and set a good example to be imitated by others
