Whether education should be provided in traditional classrooms or offered through the internet
As a student who has been attending class since I started school, I can confidently say that education through traditional classrooms is better than the education offered through the internet. With the advancement in technology, some students and schools prefer studying online since it is more convenient, and any person can study while anywhere in the world. studying online is also efficient and can be done anytime anywhere. While I agree with these reasons, it is important to understand the education is a social activity. For one to fully educated, he or she has to be part of a community, that includes teachers, other students and support staff. Education is not only about reading what is in the books but also interacting with the different people, experiencing different challenges and building upon habits and discipline. In this essay, I will further explain why I feel education is better provided in traditional classrooms than over the Internet.
To begin with, traditional classroom learning provides an extra appeal to the student’s senses. Being in class offers the students an opportunity to interact with the teachers and other students face to face. Through this, the students learn by seeing, hearing and experiencing what the teacher is teaching, and this cannot be experienced by online students. The students also get prompt responses from the teachers and the teachers can understand the strengths and the weaknesses of the students hence guiding them accordingly. Being in a classroom also gives the student a sense of belonging and community, enabling them to grow holistically.
Traditional classrooms provide students with hands-on experiences through practice. Classrooms have resources that help the student in learning. For example, there are laboratories where the students carry out experiments. In the case of an experiment, the students can carry them out on their own with the guidance of the teacher and this gives them hands-on experience. In the classroom setting also, students can physically discuss classwork, and through this, they bond and create relationships. they learn how to relate with each other, how to deal made decisions and also how to solve different problems. Students in school or classrooms are more confident and they are not afraid of making mistakes since they can easily get guidance from the teacher.
Finally, traditional classrooms build a student academically, socially and mentally. Attending classes allows one to be responsible, disciplined and helps one develop in character. Schools and classrooms have a certain code of conduct that should be followed, there are rules and regulations and there is also a schedule that is laid out for the students. From this, the students grow mentally, and they are moulded to be responsible adults. Students in the class also develop a competitive spirit, which helps them improve as individuals. Also, in-class students are called out for their bad behavior hence being corrected. Being in class also helps the students appreciate their differences hence embracing diversity.
While some people may say that learning in classrooms is rigid and is slowly being overtaken by online classes, I still stand for classroom learning. This is because traditional classroom learning provides an extra appeal to the student’s senses, they provide the students with hands-on experiences through practice and traditional classrooms build a student academically, socially and mentally.
