Question 1
Adult and pediatric physical assessments are the same in several respects. For instance, the respiratory, neurological status, integumentary, cardiovascular, bowel, and bladder function are assessed in both populations (The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, RCHM, 2017).
Question 2
The difference in the evaluation aspect is how nurses can teach. Nurses should train the child to be the pediatric patient and all the patients and their families. Children need time to trust a healthcare provider, so maintaining a good relationship is important (The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, RCHM, 2017). One way to do this is by using play strategies. RCHM indicates that the nurse must also be vigilant in children because they are not free to wait for heart and lung sounds to be auscultator, as they might scream for adults later on in their evaluation. Another distinction is that the nurse will use toys while giving guidance. In adults, nurses will watch or read instructional videos or handouts for warning and direct patients.
Question 3
My interactions and communications with adults have shown, concerning motivation, that the best way to involve adults is whether the patient internally desires or after comprehensive education as to why they have to take part, either for their benefit or for the sake of their families, in care and education (Niarchou et al., 2019).
Question 4
The strategy that nurses should use is to learn with them, but the children’s parents are still available to inspire their children to take part in the treatment, and rewards like stickers or treats more draw children.
