1955 Capital started its operations in 2015 by Andrew Chung in San Francisco to enable innovators and entrepreneurs to gain extensive market and foster long-term and successful partnerships. According to 1955 Capital Founder Andrew Chung, its collaboration with Natures Fynd was to raise new working capital to enable the company to commercialize its business. The company plan on using its 35,000 square foot Chicago facilities in manufacturing a new line of meat-free products. Thomas Jonas, the Company CEO said their innovative technology would adapt to the production of food in an environment with food challenges and limited resources.
According to Andrew Chung microbe is a fully digestible food-like substance that uses highly innovative fermentation technique in producing palatable protein source. 1955 Capital managing Partner, Chung added that investing with Natures Fynd is an exciting venture due to its ability to develop tasty food products. Andrew Chung further added that Natures Fynd had discovered an IP that makes the novel protein sources highly digestible and with high levels of amino acids. But importantly, their IP covers the fermentation nature using cost-effective technology. Additionally, they grow their protein plants, utilizing a fraction of water and land resources.
As an investment company, 1955 Capital choose to support the Natures Fynd due to its sustainable solutions to finding alternative food sources. Additionally, it has a starring list of notable investors that included Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Jack Ma, Jeff Bezos, among others.
With over $200 million in funds invested in supporting European and US technologies start-ups, the company aims in solving world challenges affecting developing countries. It focuses on businesses offering solutions in education, health, food, agriculture, environmental and energy sectors.
