This, therefore, makes the introduction an essential part of the paper as it is tasked with capturing the audience’s attention. A good introduction will have the reader wanting to read more about the paper and get more of what it has to offer. However, a poor introduction does not capture the reader’s attention and, as a result, is likely to fail in capturing the audience’s attention. As a result, in literature writing, the introduction is an integral part of the paper that determines the attitude with which a reader approaches the content contained herein.

There are various types of introductions in academic writing which utilize different approaches in the content presentation. Most people have been viewed to be continually distancing themselves socially from the rest of society and spending more time online than with friends in real life. This is a major disadvantage of social media as it reduces the effectiveness of social interaction and communication..

There are, however, some advantages that have been identified to be associated with social media usage. For instance, greater social outreach has been made possible through social media. People have been able to connect with friends and family in different locations around the world, thereby making globalization a dream come true. This has, in turn, made businesses and other social institutions thrive better in an online sphere of operation that has been largely facilitated by social media.

Introduction 2- Disadvantages of social media

            Society today has been adversely affected by the onset of social media introducing a new set of challenges that were non-existent initially. According to scientific research, it has been identified that the wellbeing of various social institutions has been negatively impacted by social media.  For instance, marriage and other relationships have been put to the test, with social media platforms being identified as the key promoters of cheating and other forms of infidelity. This has been made possible by the ease of communication as well as the capability to meet new people online.

Besides the social institutions affected, information dissemination has also experienced numerous challenges with the advent of social media. Initially, only trusted and reliable media houses were in a position to provide the public with any ongoing procedures in the world. However, with social media, anybody can pass whatever form of information they intend out there. This has, therefore, put a strain in the attempt to ascertain the credibility of the news and information passed around on social media. This has made social media a thriving platform for propaganda and other types of information that may have negative implications on society.

Introduction 3- Advantages of social media

            Society, as we knew it before, has significantly changed from the old ways, all thanks to social media. Today, real-time communication, sharing of information, meeting new people, business, among other aspects of social living, have been improved significantly. However, one of the most notable advantages that social media has had on the largest demographic group of its users is the creation of employment for the youth. Today, it has been identified that a huge percentage of the youths and other members of the society are working online as influencers, brand ambassadors, promoters, among other jobs based on their huge followings, which has been identified to increase their community outreach capability.

Social media has also brought along other vital advantages such as facilitating easy and timely communication, for instance, in work setting through the use of platforms such as Skype and video conferencing. As a result, it has become easier to effectively manage businesses from remote locations to implementing measures that help to enhance productivity, such as online advertising.

With the massive outreach that social media has been identified to have, governments and other institutions are able to pass vital information to the people by utilizing social media platforms. For instance, with the current global pandemic on the COVID-19, influencers, and other members of the society have taken to social media to pass on encouraging messages as well as educative information to the public. This is just a tip of the iceberg of the numerous advantages that have been associated with social media.
