- Choose one of the theme parks.
- Identify the theme park.
- Describe the features of the layout that you see in the theme park you chose.
The park I have chosen is the Epcot Park. What stands out in this park is the spaceship earth ball that is located a few meters away from the entrance. The is shaped like racquet with most of its fascinating attraction located outside and few points of entertainment and the world showcase lagoon situated in the middle. The paths are converging in the middle, and the entrance path allows the visitors to pass through the spaceship earth twice, this is when they are entering the park and when leaving the park.
- Include which attractions and stores/restaurants are located near each other
The attractions that are located near each other are the universe of energy, spaceship earth, Body Wars, West and Eastside, Wonders of China, The American Adventure, Circle of Life, and many other attractions in the park. Restaurants are the pure and simple San Angel Inn located, Restaurant Akershus, Cantina de San, Nine Dragons, Sommerfest, Alfredo’s, Liberty inn, Kringla Bakeri, and many other restaurants. The shopping stores located close to each other are the Teas, Souvenirs, and Mitsukoshi Department Stores, Kodak accessories, Germany, and many more stores.
- Which layout type does this theme park use? Are they using just this one type of layout or a combination of layouts?
The two layouts feature that appears in Epcot Park is the fixed and retail layout. Epcot has most of its attractions, restaurants, and stores located in the buildings where their visitors visit the building every day to have fun, eat and do some shopping. The park also uses its retail layout for advertising its product to customers. Epcot uses these layouts together, whereby they strategically advertise their products to their visitors at a fixed point in the park.
- How would you improve upon one of the layout features that you see in the park you selected?
I would improve the layout features by updating its products to meet the demands of today’s customer trends. I would also give the stores a new look since they are structures that were established years ago. Restructuring the buildings gives them a new look that will attract more visitors to the attractions, restaurants, and stores. Lastly, I would consider including some entertaining sectors that are not offered in the park or increase more ride attractions to increase the customers’ experience in the park.
