Emilio, for example, is focused on work hence characterized as hardworking though his wife is not while Lachlan is manipulative ( the part that he threatens to release sex tape). The main character in the movie is Jane, a religious and hardworking young lady. She is a waitress in a hotel in Miami. Her vow of keeping virginity until marriage is unachieved after a mistake from her gynecologist.
The objective of the activity
The objective of this study is to ensure Jane reduces her anxiety about her life plan by employing effective measures within one month. This can be enhanced through consulting with her regularly to ensure the mutual understanding that will lead to positive effects.
This objective is SMART, as it has a specification on what is expected at the end of the activity. It is also measurable as it can be measured by looking at the changes that Jane makes. It is attainable as the strategy employed is flexible where the need arises. The objective is as well really as it also has a timeline that should be met to evaluate the outcomes.
Jane’s Family Background
Jane is a young lady raised by her mother, Xiomara Villanueva, who conceived her at the age of sixteen. She is characterized as a reckless, kind, compassionate, and independent woman as she brings up her daughter. She also has a grandmother, Alba, who is religious considering, however, illegally migrated from Venezuela. The grandmother even lost contact with other family members from Venezuela, where she came from. From her grandmother’s character of being a religious woman, this can make Jane be characterized as religious as well due to being brought up by the two. Besides just having her mother and grandmother as close relatives, Jane has a son, Mateo. She the child conceived from having mistaken insemination from her gynecologist, Dr. Luisa Alver. The baby-father of Mateo is Rafael, who owns a Hotel in Miami.
However, besides having this as the baby father of her son, she also has a boyfriend, Michael, who happens to be the love of her life (Carbone & Cahn, 2017).
These are the people who are like a family to Jane; hence they play different roles in her life. Her background has a lot to do with her life experience as she brings up the child with her baby-daddy and her husband. Her grandma encourages her to be strong, and surely she does not disappoint as she brings up her son in the extended family. She gets support from her extended family in bringing up the child and also from her boyfriend, Michael, before his demise.
Intellectual functioning, employment, and work experience.
Jane is an educated young lady, and this contributes to the success of her life. We can say she is educated as she has joined a college and T.A at Grad school. She passed in her high school levels hence leading to her journey to college. She is an intellectual lady who is determined and what she does to ensure her success.
She studies hard, and in the long run, her success is seen when she is accomplishing her dream as a published writer. As she tries to bring her son in a pleasant, healthy environment, she is involved in working as a waitress. She works at Golden Harbor Yacht Club, Miami as a waitress. This is the same hotel that the baby-father of Mateo owns. She works in the hotel as a way of meeting the needs of the child and makes him a suitable environment for growth.
Interpersonal and social peer relationship
The most influential people in her life for support in terms of family support are her mother and grandmother, who helps her in ensuring she cops up with the situation.
When she later comes in good terms with her baby-father, Rafael, she also received support from him financially, which helped in ensuring she was bringing up the child in a less strenuous manner.
Jane interacts with a friend and shares her stories with them. They will, at times, help in giving her possible solutions to her problems when there was a call for need. Lina Santillan, for example, is her best friend who is always there for her. She ensures that they share their life experience and ideas that will make them have a smooth life. Lina is still there for her friend, and she ensures that Jane is not in trouble and lives a stress-free life. Petra is also always available for Jane to ensure she has all forms of social support that she needs.
Strengths and Stressors for Environmental and Individual
(SWOT analysis model)
The strengths and weaknesses can be identified through the SWOT analysis. For example, her strengths are that she is organized, persistent, strong, brave, and a go-getter, which makes her life more comfortable than any other lady would. She should ensure that she maintains these strengths to help her come back to her normal life. Her Weakness, however, is the issue to do with mental illness that she is suffering after the loss of the husband, Michael. The Opportunity, on the other hand, is ensuring she meets with Rafael and be in good terms with him. This will be an opportunity to help her in bringing up the child. The Threat is that she is a single mum; hence this may deny her the chance of safeguarding Mateo. The SWOT analysis will be essential for the effectiveness and attainment of objectives (Dalton, 2019)
Physical Functioning, Health Concerns
Her Weakness, on the other hand, is the problem with her mental health; hence she needs a psychologist who can help her cope up with her mental health resources. All these needs are very crucial in ensuring Jane sees the light at the end of the tunnel in her life ones more. After the death of Michael, she does not even go to work as she is much stressed. She does not come out of bed for many days, and this affected the child, Mateo, needs as her mother did not meet his daily child care needs. This is a mental illness that she is having and therefore calling for urgent consideration that will help her in healing.
Summary of the activities
Jane has a lot of needs in her life, considering that she has a child to bring up. She has the requirements to be met to ensure the welfare of the child that is from eating, clothing, and even ensuring that Mateo lives a healthy life. The objective at this point will be to ensure that Jane’s anxiety is reduced and help her cope with her husband’s loss by contacting the therapist by booking an appointment for her and having joint family meetings.
It will also be essential to have Rafael help her in taking Mateo to a preschool to ensure they safeguard an excellent education for the child. This will be possible as Rafael is the biological father who is financially stable as he owns the hotel that Jane works in. There can be a mediator who might help her feel free and safe to talk with Rafael hence providing an opportunity for her to say all the needs that Mateo may need for a stable life. The mediator can be friends like Lina, or even a lawyer who will help in ensuring the conversation is fruitful and productive.
She should have one-hour free time away from anybody in a silent place to help her in writing a book. Through this, she can have an opportunity to shape up her life and write a book. She will have time to be creative in writing the book and later own be connected to a publisher who will then help her in publishing the book. Since she is interested in working with Simon and Schuster as publishers, Jane is connected to them by first assessing all her needs before taking any action. This will then lead to the success of having an opportunity to achieve her dreams of being a writer of a published article.
Through social support from friends and family support, Jane will be able to have a good life of acceptance and change after that. Joint family meetings, especially with her grandmother and mom, will help her in expressing her needs and desires, and she will feel loved and that urge of belonging. The family bond is essential for every human; hence through these joint family meetings, it will be an excellent opportunity for her to bond and maintain a strong relationship with the family. Co-parenting being another stressor in her life, support groups for mothers in her community will be essential to be identified. This will help in supporting her in terms of co-parenting, therefore reducing the burden.
The progress of these objectives can be evaluated by analyzing how active she is towards making changes. This is to ensure that Jane begins a new life and be active again from the mental health that she is undergoing. The hours set up for her to help in writing her book can also be used for evaluation. She should have some positive move with time in writing the book. The issue concerning grief due to the loss of a husband, Michael, will be a challenging task to meet as an objective. Therefore if at all, the aim is not achieved within the stipulated time frame, it would be essential to adjust the deadline to ensure she is set up for her success. It should not be taken as a failure if she doesn’t meet the time that has been set up; instead of extending the deadline will be of high importance.
Jane should as well be willing to work hard in writing the book to ensure the success of this activity. The deadline for meeting the success of this activity should not be focused on Jane rather her level of hard work. If the activity takes a lot of time to meet the timeline, it will be essential to talk with Jane to have a renegotiation agreement with her.
The changes that can be brought in can be discussed, and the possible way through agreed upon. However, even if slow, she should show some signs of attempting to achieve the goal. Questions on what is holding her back can be asked to ensure possible solutions are reached upon to curb the issue. At the end of the activity, it should ensure that it leads to the stipulated objective that has been set up.
