Tourism in New Orleans

            New Orleans is a unique city, and it has various kinds of entertainment and different vibes. The city is known for a wide variety of jazz music, Cuisine foods, and the famous Mardi Gras celebrations; it is a city that has different cultures that have different diversities that involve music, food, and language, and building structures. Many of these attraction sites are near the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, in the center of the district. Moreover, along the River Mississippi, which is near the French Quarter on the Southside, there are horse carriages that are used to take the visitors on tours.  Some steamboats are parked near the shore, and many tourists buy beignets. The increase in the number of tourist attractions in New Orleans, making it one of the most-visited places in the United States. There are various monumental tourist attractions places, for example, the French Quarter, St. Charles Avenue, and the multiple stores and specialty shops. Different travel guides have shown that there are over 10 million visitors that go to New Orleans to check out various attraction sites. The economy of New Orleans has been built on tourism and other factors such as oil, the port, and water vessels building.

The French Quarter-   French quarter is the top tourist attraction place in New Orleans because of its structural design. It is found along the bend of River Mississippi, and despite it being of a magnificent structure, it also has a part that is used for dining and entertainment. Some of these structures are dated back up to three centuries, have impacts from France, playing places, iron made balconies, red-tiled ridges, and beautiful courtyards. The most renowned street in the French Quarter is Bourbon Street, then followed by Royal Street, which has a variety of history, tasty foods, and exceptional shopping sprees with exquisite stores and restaurants.[1]

The Mardi Gras – This is an event that is famous in the US, and it signifies New Orleans, which happens in a 14days period, and ends with the final on Shrove Tuesday, a day before Ash Wednesday. The celebrations mostly are daily processions, entertainment, and festivals, which become more fun towards the end of the event. This tradition was formally introduced by the French settlers and was widespread throughout the 20th century. [2]The National WWII Museum- This is an exceptional museum that has various exhibits and written items that describe the history of World War II. The Museum is distinctively divided into three areas; one part focused on the war in the Pacific, the second part- the war in Europe, and the third part has a structure that shelters World War II aircraft. The St Louis Cathedral- It is a unique structure in New Orleans that was constructed in 1794 and is famous for being the most ancient cathedral to be used up to date. Other places that attract tourists include the City Park, Louisiana State Museum, the Garden District, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and the Audubon Zoo.

Topic and Research questions

Tourism in New Orleans is a vast detail that would require various theoretical and theoretical approaches to understand. The movement of people to see multiple sites and things in the city is a good topic for exposure to various theories about tourism. Tourism in New Orleans is standard, and numerous questions would require answers if the research proposal is approved. Questions on why the culture is diversified?, What are the factors that make New Orleans a favorable tourist destination?, How the tourism history of New Orleans has been explored? What is the growth rate of the current tourist activity?

Methods of research

The research methods that are likely to be applied in this study will be; a critical study of the history of New Orleans through observation of the various tourist attraction sites, steering interviews on tourism in New Orleans. Additionally, questionnaires may be administered to the residents of New Orleans and different tourist guide companies. The choice for these methods of research is right for the topic since it gives a various understanding of the research topic. This helps to explore the subject in a more elegant way that can assist in expanding the research more.

In conclusion, this research is essential because it helps us to explore more about the diverse tourism of New Orleans city. It will also help to understand and appreciate the culture of the New Orleans city. The various tourist attraction sites also provide extensive knowledge of the multiple histories and cultures of other countries. Tourism in New Orleans is an excellent research topic that has a variety of tourist areas that the research may explore. The study may also focus on the reasons why there is an increase in the number of tourists in New Orleans in the last ten years. This topic is related to the theories that may be applied in the research.
