The branches of the federal government
The branches of the federal government relate to each other by providing changes and balances to each other. The president, as the head of state, has the ultimate responsibility of protecting the federal constitution. Therefore, two other branches ensure that this is happening by watching over the decisions that the president makes. The legislature approves the appointments of the president and can quickly determine the constitutionalism of the appointments by the president. For example, the president appoints the Supreme Court judges, but their legibility relies on the decision of the legislature through the senate. The judiciary interprets the constitution for the executive and the legislature in situations of a misunderstanding of the constitution. Therefore, the judiciary can declare a decision by the president to be unconstitutional after explaining the articles related to the decision of the president.
Federalism helps the government in the division of power between the federal government and the state governments. Federalism has laid strategies that ensure that the state governments enjoy sovereignty. Consequently, each state has the mandate to make laws, different from the federal laws, concerning the wellbeing of the residents of each particular state. The leadership of each state understands the needs of the residents, which might be different from those of another state. Federalism ensures that there are no conflict interests between the federal government and the state governments. In the absence of federalism in the United States, the national government would establish policies that do not befit the needs of the residents. The country is vast in terms of size and might have different populations with different expectations in each state. Therefore, federalism guards the residents of the states against facing policies that might not help them in their daily activities.
Martin Luther King Jr. is the most influential thinker, leader, and a reformer in the history of the United States of America. Fifty-two years since his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee, King’s actions are fresh in the memories of many people who were present in the 1960s. The United States had remained on the radar of the international community for the predicaments that African American people were facing in the hands of the whites. Martin Luther King Jr. rose into the forefront in fighting for civil rights in his 20s with a determined zeal and a fearless heart. King championed human rights movements to fight against segregation as he pulled massive crowds because of his charisma and determination towards the course. His famous speech, I Have A Dream, reformed the views of many people towards blacks in the country. in this speech, King thought of a country in which there will be no racial segregation.
