lousy parenting/labelling a kid as bad when they go against the society’s norms
In most cases, you hear people labelling kids to be bad when a kid seems to go against society’s accepted values and practices. In most cases, society ends up blaming the children for their behaviours and actions. However, logically thinking, for any child, their primary socialization agent is parents. When a kid is born, they are socialized into their present environment where parents teach kids on the acceptable behaviours, values and beliefs of the society. Since kids at that time cannot filter what they are socialized into, they end up adopting all these values. Further, children tend to like a reflection of what they saw their parents or their surrounding people do without questioning whether it is right or wrong.
Therefore the state of labelling a kid as bad when they go against the society’s norms, one should think of calling these issues lousy parenting. When a child is young, they are depended entirely on their parents for moral training. So when a child is seen misbehaving all the blame should be on the parents. Parenting styles indeed have a significant effect on how the child develops to behave into adults and high impact their future success. An example is where a standard parenting approach of a specific community entails instilling of tough love, control as well as uncompromising discipline. What is expected is that child will grow up following all the teachings where they show accountability and respect in their behaviours.
To address the issue of lousy parenting which turns children into being bad in society, there is a need for a permanent solution. I think that when one decides to be a parent, they should go to an actual school setting where they are taught different ways of raising their children in the right direction. This helps in avoiding bad parenting since parents will get to understand various techniques and methods which ensures that parents raise their kids in society’s acceptable ways.
There should include an actual setting where parents attended different classes on a campus where the level of the class depends on their children age levels. For instance, for parents with children below the age of five should attend the same classes where they are taught a standard parenting approach and different values and beliefs which should be instilled in children during primary socialization. They will also be taught on ways to discipline their children to produce a permanent solution. Continuous poor parenting decisions generate harmful outcomes through a child’s life and beyond. Hence understanding and recognizing all the bad parental decisions will helps parents in making the best decisions for their kids.
So I think it is right to say bad parenting instead of terming a child to be wrong; subsequently, a child’s behaviour is a reflection of the parent’s parenting approach. So a kid is not bad since it all depends on how they are raised because when values and norms are being instilled in them, they are have no choice but adopt whatever they see and learn from their parents. So when you see a child having bad behaviours trace it back from their parents. I suggest that there should be an actual school strong where parents are required to attend to learn ways and techniques of instilling the right behaviour into their kids since parenting styles determines a child’s behaviours.
