The Honorable John Cornyn,

Texas congressional senator,

Address

Dear Cornyn,

Civil rights in Texas allow individuals to receive equal treatment and eliminates discrimination in several areas, such as housing and employment. Most of the civil rights used in Texas originate from the federal government as outlined in the civil rights act of 1964. However, the state of Texas has implemented some of their civil rights to protect its people. Civil rights provide equal protection and opportunities to everyone regardless of their religion, gender, or race. Some of the civil rights granted to people include the right to a fair trial, right to vote, right to education, among others. As opposed to civil liberties that are restraining the government from certain functions giving people their freedoms, civil rights are as a result of positive actions by the government. They ensure that people who have been discriminated against in the past secure their freedom. Civil rights movement often occurs whenever the rights of citizens are violated.

The issue of civil rights is a national issue and not a state issue as its primary purpose is to end discrimination in the whole country and not just in specific states. In the past decades, Congress has developed acts in an attempt to end discrimination in various areas such as education, financial assistance, and housing, among others. The civil rights act of 1964 protects people of color and different national origin from discrimination. It is also an issue of the nation as it represents democracy. The United States has, over the years, developed a legacy of racial inequality where people’s rights are violated depending on their race or national origin. Civil rights are meant to enforce the issue of morality in the entire nation. It is, therefore, essential that everyone in the country realizes their civil rights and fight against unfair treatment. Also, it is essential to note that most of the civil rights laws stem from the federal government making it a national issue.

Civil rights and the origin of constitutional democracy began with the movement to stop African Americans from being discriminated against. After slavery was abolished, African Americans were granted some civil rights in most of the American states, such as the right to vote. However, they were still discriminated against, making them second class citizens of the United States. In the 1950s, African Americans’ marginalization became violent, leading to the development of civil rights movements. It is related to constitutional democracy, which is meant to protect the rights of minorities and citizens and to ensure they are respected. Constitutional democracy ensures that those that were formerly excluded get receive equal treatment with others. Civil rights have helped improve the living standards of minority groups by providing equal opportunities for education, employment, among others. Civil rights are related to the bill of rights, such as the civil rights act of 1964 prohibiting discrimination based on age, color, race, sex, and national origin.

Civil rights affect various groups of people in society. First, African Americans in the United States who were discriminated against now can receive equal opportunities and treatment with the Whites. Before the act of 1964 was established, African Americans faced several challenges, which include discrimination in housing, education, and employment. However, these individuals now receive better economic and social mobility as they have access to resources. Other people who are affected by civil rights are those with disabilities. The civil rights prohibit discrimination based on being disabled in employment, transportation, commercial facilities, and in the state and local government. The civil rights also affect the American Indians and other minority groups who are denied equal opportunities. The public’s view on the issue is that it is crucial as it ensures everyone receives equal opportunities and treatment as no one is superior to the other.

The legislative branch is responsible for ensuring the civil rights of individuals are protected. The department of justice and t5he civil rights division is accountable for upholding the rights of all Americans and especially the vulnerable groups of the society. The legislative branch ensures that federal statute prohibiting discrimination based on color, race, sex religion, disability, and national origin is enforced. It comprises of the Congress that makes laws. The legislative branch has, from the beginning, been responsible for investigating issues concerning violation of civil rights. The rules developed should protect everyone within the USA territory, even those that are non-citizens. The branch works closely with its partners, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to prevent various forms of discrimination and to address issues of hate crime.

Several constitutional solutions can be used to ensure the problem of civil rights is solved. Civil rights refer to the right to be free from discrimination, which is still a challenge in the country. There are cases where people are discriminated against, for example, unrealistic seizure and search. The solution to this is ensuring that those who violate civil rights are prosecuted and changed in a court of law. Also, if a legislature or state makes laws that violate the constitution, they should be sued so that the legislation can be removed. Also, the law protects people in case they are searched unreasonably by excluding the evidence obtained from the illegal search. These changes can be implemented through the use of a civil rights movement that allows people to raise their concerns whenever they feel their civil rights are violated.

The action of a civil rights movement taken in ensuring that civil rights are protected may impact the election process as people may choose to boycott them to ensure that their rights are respected. It is a challenge to the state as it will not receive the proper presentation in the Congress or the house of representatives, making it lag in terms of development. Your stance as the congressional leader will impact how people will vote. In case you choose to support their movement to ensure equality, people may decide to vote for you so you can present their issues to Congress. However, if you are against the fight for equal rights, then people may choose a different person who supports their views.

I have addressed this letter to you as the Texas congress representative, as it is within my rights to give my views on the things I feel are affecting people in the state. It is my responsibility to inform you of some of the things that are affecting people in the state of Texas to enable you to make crucial decisions on how to address the issue of civil rights. The fight against discrimination is vital to avoid the suffering of people based on their color, origin, or gender by ensuring everyone receives equal opportunities. It is essential that you hear from the citizens of Texas to ensure that you represent their ideas to the best of your capabilities. It will encourage you to make the issue of civil rights a priority so as everyone receives equal treatment. Thank you for your attention, and I would appreciate it if you vote my way.

Sincerely,
