Reflecting on Damon Krukowski’s, an author as well as a musician
Ways of Hearing
Reflecting on Damon Krukowski’s, an author as well as a musician, his ideologies kicks off with well analog sounds but intends to portray the reality in the digital, approach of music. As a result, Damon focuses on six episodes that presumably would help illustrate his views more understandably. It would be accurate to say that Krukowski wants his audience to contemplate his tools in which they might need to apply in their digital era as a way of listening critically. Notably, Damon admits to having borrowed ideas from Ways of Seeing, a series translated in writings. However, it would be adorable to recognize that Damon acknowledges that books will always prevail while there is a high chance for television shows having to be forgotten. Besides, the “space” episode reveals more about society from the podcast. Although, public areas cannot regulate the number of people roaming around, perhaps freelancing individuals should use earbuds to ensure a person’s privacy as far as music is concerned.
According to Krukowski “Podcasting is the perfect medium for this — it not only lets me express some of the ideas I have about the switch from analog to digital sound but [a podcast] is itself digital sound” (Wade, 2017) I agree with Damon on using the podcast method because the latter can be applied to talk about itself. The author argues that the use of headphones would enable or has rather ensure urban transformation in terms of space. I agree with him because personal audio has currently been the most significant aspect concerning the digital approach of hearing. Besides, it very uncommon to identify or, come through individuals who would be willing to admit on the essentiality of personal space when consuming content. In fact, one would nearly predict the authors next though based on how he would make frame his argument. Hence, in his recent discussion on Ways of Hearing, Damon, argument on the use of earbuds sounds sensible. With no contradiction, I agree with the fact that the use of headphones or rather earbuds guarantees an individual’s privacy.
I have always believed that dynamic tones in music contribute to different noise impacts, as far as public involvement is concerned. Conventional wisdom from Damon has it exactly as my perspectives and Damon would support my idea on noisy musical tones. However, the author differs from me in that he might be able to raise his possible solutions, something I have been unable to achieve. Interestingly, as the prominent musician would put it, if there is the need to use the earbud, then “you’re creating a private space in a public sphere” (Wade, 2017) One would think that the author contradicts himself while he would agree at the same time to various ideologies. My whole life I would agree that self-space was essential. However, I would not elaborate enough on the best way to achieve the latter with a world comprised of music. I would agree that Damon, has impacted the community today through his methods of hearing.
Specifically, the introduction of earbuds in his space episode describes a new approach of listening to music. In fact, the later has shifted the environmental experience; thus, the public subways would be proof of how differently people handle what they hear. Hence, it is evident that the majority consume most of the time in their own “sonic world.” Perhaps, such experiences on digital devices such as earbuds, suggest a change in how the community has differed when consuming musical contents. Sadly, it is evident that individuals have different tastes when selecting musical contents (Krukowski & Thompson, 2019). Maybe, the latter answers why different people have to consider space as a variable. Hence, according to Damon, it would be the only way to, secretly select the most favourable sounds and “digest” the same individually in public. On the other hand, I would not entirely believe what Damon has to say.
I disagree with Damon Krukowski’s view partly since his ideas are entirely based on what a musician would want to dispose of. I think that Krukowski mistakes his view of space maintenance. In fact, it would be right to oppose his conclusion on individuals having consumed musical contents under their sonic world. The latter would not be appropriate since earbuds limit people from gathering other competent contents. Therefore, I would say that such an idea restricts or rather takes away, the ability of an individual to evaluate want he or she would want to hear. Of course, public places are not the only areas to exercise such, practices. However, i endure what Wade (2017) sees in Damon; that is, a world in which people only have to listen but not decide on what to listen. Well, the latter should not be necessary. Although Damon concludes on the earbuds being significant in public space maintenance, they discredit the value of music. Hence, the device lowers the quality of content according to their type despite guaranteeing individual space in the public areas.
I agree that freelancing individuals should use earbuds to ensure personal privacy as far as music is concerned. Besides, Damon’s space episode on the podcast supports the vitality of the device. However, I feel that the earbuds should be adjusted to maintain the original quality of the content delivered.
