education has remained a basic requirement for every human being
Over the ages, until today, education has remained a basic requirement for every human being. While there have been arguments about individuals considering themselves successful without or with limited education, creating doubts about the essence of education in an individual’s life, citing people with education but are unsuccessful, it is not enough justification to doubt the importance of education. Though others have indeed achieved much without education, especially during the past century, this essay illustrates why education remains an essential requirement in an individual’s life.
The first critical aspect of life is to live happily and healthier. According to research by Galama, Lleras-Muney & van Kippersluis (2018), it appears that people with education live longer than their counterparts without education. In this study, Galama et al., (2018) confirm that individuals with education make better life choices compared to uneducated individuals, hence creating a difference in the longevity of life.
Education changes individuals’ reasoning and view of things to logical and evidence-based claims. Consider the scenarios witnessed with HIV & AIDS management in developing countries. As a result of limited education, most of these individuals practiced some traditions such as women’s inheritance, which only promoted the spread of the infection. They lacked the logical reasoning and understanding of facts needed to protect them from such scenarios. To affirm it, it occurs that developed nations have fewer cases of HIV & AIDS compared to developing countries as suggested by Prilleltensky, Neff & Bessell (2016).
Finally, today, we appreciate our world as a result of technical development, we even use terms such as, “technology has turned the world to a village.” All these have only been possible as a result of education. Countries are only considered strong and equipped as a result of their levels in understanding science and technology which can only be achieved through an excellent system of the education system (Prilleltensky et al. 2016). Consider the current scenario of the Covid 19 pandemic, only countries with well-established technological capacities are working on vaccine research while the rest wait for fate to take its course.
In conclusion, the survival of humankind on this earth depends on the level of education people have achieved. Comparing the number of deaths that happened as a result of the Flu outbreak in 1918, about 50 million died as a result of limited technology due to limited education by then. Thus, education has proved vital in every individual’s life.
