MME week 11 highlights
This week I have been to learn more about literature review and have gotten a few highlights discussed below. Literature review has been seen as an essential part of a thesis proposal. Commonly done, its role is at the initial stages whereby the research is now well being thought out. In conducting a literature review, a researcher is supposed to show systematic and comprehensive research in all types of the published literature in order to find good quantity references relevant to the topic of the researcher. It is essentially borrowed from books, articles, journals, Research, publications, databases, thesis, and even dissertations.
The literature review’s purpose is mostly to describe, summarize, evaluate, and clarify the area under inquiry, which in the long run, helps in determining the nature of the research (Ridley, 2012). The literature review outlines the background of the problem, along with the relevant theories and existing research that a researcher wants to do.
In Most cases, literature review helps in bringing clarity and focus to the research problem, thereby increasing the knowledge base in the research area and improves the research methodology (Sara Efrat Efron, 2018). Doing a good literature review will help the researcher in pointing out existing knowledge gaps. Therefore, providing a good anchor for the research in determining the right methodology and methods.
In the literature review, these will help the researcher to avoid duplication and develop a framework of the study interpretation and demonstrate a good understanding of the subject area. It also familiarizes the researcher with other works and their findings for improved approaches, explains contradictions In findings.
More so, Literature reviewing gives an in-depth nature of the problem that is examined. A literature review, therefore, provides guidance in addressing some of the research questions set out in your outline. It helps you gain an understanding of the theoretical and analytical debates that are prominent within current work on the topic the researcher is dealing with (Ridley, 2012). This will also make sense of my data and findings when you gather them. This helps in giving a scholarly perspective. In order to conduct good literature, review, I should acquaint myself with various sources such as the local library and online sources. Develop a detailed list of keywords and concepts to guide your literature review
