Triangulation refers to the usage of more than one single method when researching to get more vibrant, more accurate data and help validate the study findings (Carter et al., 2014). Triangulation is of four types (Carter et al., 2014).; Data triangulation with the application of multiple data sources and involves various periods for collecting data, different locations from which to collect data and diverse people who may be interested in the research study. Triangulation of investigators, the use of many individuals (or at least more than one) in the processes of data collection and data analysis. The third one is Methodological triangulation, where two subtypes are involved which are within and between the methods. This method uses more than one way to gather data. The fourth type is Theory triangulation, where the research approaches several hypothesis or viewpoints to expand possibilities for knowledge creation. The commonly used type is methodological triangulation, for example, studying attitude. The goal of triangulation is to increase trust in the results using two or more independent measures to validate a proposal (Heale & Forbes, 2013). The attitudes of nurses regarding teamwork can be gathered through a survey and focus group discussion or a study to investigate blood pressure reduction through a nutritional education program may include a summary of participants ‘commitment to dietary changes through routine logs and a series of BP readings (Heale & Forbes, 2013). Hence, this method applies to the case study as the survey will involve managers from different parts of the country, and their opinion will be collected during the group[ meetings or from their posted area.
Triangulation is more significance compared to other methods as it occurs in different types depending on the quality of the study (Carter et al., 2014) (Heale & Forbes, 2013). By being distributed in different form make it reduce bias and increase precision. This method is useful as describing research which applies two or more methods (Heale & Forbes, 2013). The techniques also combine both quantitative and qualitative, and their result may lead to convergent, implying they may have a similar conclusion. They have findings that relate to various objects or events, but maybe complementary to one another and may be used to supplement the individual results. Therefore, from the discussed advantages, triangulation method will be the best method to be used in the study since data to be collected will be both quantitative and qualitative and this method will help to analyze and draw conclusions from both of them.
