Constitution Assembly and the Failure of Monarchy in Nepal.

The formation of the Constitution Assembly led to the failure of Monarchy in Nepal. The need for the Constitution Assembly election in Nepal was in demand for so long, but it was never considered due to the pressure of different fields. After King Birendra Shah died, the parliament was dissolved by Gayanenda, and the direct rule was introduced and him as the chairman. After that, there was a successful peoples’ movement during 2062 and 2063, which completely dissolved the autocratic monarchy. The Constitution Assembly, therefore, concluded the end of the monarchy during 2065 (Zuberi & Rose 2020). Therefore, because of the Constitution Assembly, Nepal has finally been declared the Federal Democratic Republic.

After a long political fight and disorder in Nepal, the system of politics has seemed to deliver a better rule to the people of Nepal. The disorder which was experienced in 2062 and 2063 in Nepal ensured brought some hope for better governance in Nepal. There was a common interest by all parties to have a Constitution Assembly in Nepal. Therefore, the Constitution was regarded as the main law that will be used in governing Nepal. The Constitution Assembly has, therefore, ensured that the sovereign power of the people of Nepal is engaged as opposed to the system of monarchy. Therefore, the Constitution Assembly has been used as a great weapon for destroying monarchy in Nepal and ensuring that the Nepalese have the power to contribute to the way Nepal is governed. However, the state of future politics of Nepal is still unpredictable according to the elections that were held in 2008, where they have been seen as the victims of the political game.
