Self Awareness
Self-awareness is possessing the ability to acknowledge and monitor personal emotions. Also, it consists of the ability to realise your needs, limitations, and strengths. Self-awareness increases one’s social skills; As we know, humans are social who prosper on relations. Self-aware people are successful when it comes to creating relationships. These people will realise their needs in each person they come across (Penny, 2019). That will happen when one knows their challenges and abilities. Moreover, self-awareness will encourage emotional intelligence where emotional intelligence assists us in associated with the feelings of others. Concerning organisation, such people with social skills will help in promoting good relationships among employees, thus minimising conflicts and disagreements. Self-awareness is essential since it encourages open-mindedness and versatility (Penny, 2019).
Knowing yourself contributes toward the approach that you have on issues. Self-awareness, in its description, is the power to listen to your mind and body to understand the natural reaction to change. This concept helps when dealing with issues since it gives a clear focus. You are also able to freely evaluate feedback, criticism, and opinions from others without personal feelings. Here, the organisation will benefit from people who will make unbiased or own decisions, especially when solving differences of disagreement. Moreover, these people will have diverse solutions to problems (Penny, 2019).
Here is why most organisations will seek self-aware people; promoting productivity. Self-aware people are also fast thinkers. They have that ability to concentration on the situation of the day without difficulties since they understand themselves. People who do not understand themselves are challenged whenever an uncertainty happens on their way even when a poor decision is required. This results in time wastage which will be highly discouraged in organisations (Ketelle, 2015).
Self-aware people have improved their leadership skills. One of the most crucial elements of an outstanding leader is fast decision-making. Also, a leader should be confident and impartial. All these qualities will be gained after becoming self-aware. Those who know themselves will have their internal fear eliminated and able to concentration on essential issues. The reason for the organisation to seek such a person is to have superior leaders who can focus on the organisation goals (Ketelle, 2015).
In an interview, it is reasonable to demonstrate self-awareness which increases your credibility. One is through sharing of your credit for achievements made. When asked of a project, remember to share your credit with the unit involved. This may increase the credibility of you being a team player (Steps, n.d.). Further, since self-awareness deals with understanding your strengths and limitations, try to share how you are improving yourself, try to frame your weaknesses as a strength. Being honest, genuine and open is the key. In an interview, it is important to listen actively. This is also a way to demonstrate your self-awareness. Always pay attention to the question being asked by the interviewer. It is not necessarily that you answer the question right away but gives a thoughtful response (Steps, n.d.). /
