Veronica Mars is not releasing season 5 anytime soon
After the troubled third season, Veronica Mars finally ended in 2007, and Rob Thomas knew what fans expected from the next series. Funs showed their intense love for the show through social media, where there were a series of different trends social media platforms. On TV without Pity, Fans debated furiously over characters on each episode who were red herrings and which real whodunits were. There were various discussions on the show’s music, cinematography, and costumes, and Rob Thomas seemed to have it all figured out.
Veronica Mars is not releasing season 5 anytime soon, and Rob Thomas revealed that there were no plans or discussions for bringing back future series. The last series left fans heartbroken after the death of one of the most loved characters Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring). In the previous moments of season 4, Logan died unexpectedly after the bomb in Veronica’s car exploded, killing him off-screen. Rob Thomas admits playing ‘gamble’ saying he admitted he knew the killing of Logan Echolls would confuse but insisted it was necessary for the show. Despite all these, Veronica Mars was low rated and ranked dismissal 148 of 156 total shows that year. Thomas had a total viewership, which held a steady, almost 2.5 million viewers, which primarily led to the cancellation of the TV Show.
The fact that Verona Mars did not fit in with the CW led to cancellation since the show was not able to draw in more viewers as it was required. The CW focused more on specific niches, and Verona Mars was difficult to categorize since Thomas’ show has different themes hence limited audiences. Thomas failed to gain access to the CW since Verona Mars is a mixture of drama and comedy and therefore, could not be categorized under any account. After a second chance to reboot didn’t come to pass, Thomas went against CW executive’s request to write about rookie cops, but instead, he jumped to show Verona as FBI agent.
Verona Mars showrunner and creator Rob Thomas had already shown signs of moving on while wrapping up season three. He had already planned and secured his position as a writer and also a producer at ABC’s Miss Guided. Thomas gained easy access and was promoted to executive producer and showrunner but failed and left after few weeks due to differences in creativity. Thomas again was unable to gain an audience in Miss Guided, which was later up for replacement and only aired seven episodes. Even thou Veronica Mars’s fans could not let go quickly, years after cancellation, Rob Thomas mentioned the possibility of a movie in various interviews.
