Analysis of the Documentary Film The Virgin Daughters

The documentary concentrates on the families with self-imposed responsibilities of inculcating the need to remain pure in their daughters. It is about the daughters assuring and pledging their fathers that they will remain pure until they get married to their husbands, and probably the all will be over on that wedding night. This, as explained in the documentary, happens when the daughters are young and in a position to declare their stand. Since it is explained to these young girls at such a tender age of six, they are also made to understand that celibacy is a good thing since people will always understand their worth.

Despite the moral perspective, which is a pillar used to support celibacy, there exist other fundamental factors under celibacy. First, the parents observe that the treatment of their daughters by their male counterparts depends on how they value themselves. Remaining pure, therefore, makes them valuable because of their ability to respect themselves by remaining chaste until the appropriate time knocks on their doors. The covenant signed by the parent and mother is not to break the rule of remaining pure until the time to get married to their future husbands.

Parents also have a different motive when they decide on their daughters going celibate. Some parents get angered by the fact that unmarried daughters engaging in sex before they meet their husbands risk their health status. The scientific fact that cervical cancer is imminent when young girls engage in sex is a driving force behind the adoption of celibacy. Also, as presented in the documentary, some parents do not want their daughters to go through poor relationship decisions that will lead to a tragic end in terms of domestic violence as dictated by the inappropriate and immature choice of partners.

This documentary displays the trend taken by the celibacy because the father-daughter agreement dominates it. The close and loving relationship that is developed is meant to foster endurance as the father is meant to act as the guardian of the girl until the right time comes. This trend has been clearly illustrated in the documentary because the father’s love is meant to guarantee them safety by protecting them against immoral conduct that might sway them. Since it is effected at the tender age, the celibacy mantra seems to work because the girls involved believe that their worth will strongly be valued.

The advocacy of celibacy seems to have some challenges with sexuality due to the proximity of the father and daughter. During the period of abstinence, an absolute trust develops on the side of the daughter, and this might pose some challengers unless the father is extra careful about this development. Once a daughter has been handed over to the husband later in the future, there will be a possibility of her expecting the husband to have the attributes as those of her father, thus causing the mistrust issues in the marriage life. There is a lack of exposure and the fact that not all men have the same attributes.

Finally, the issue of fixation develops as the celibacy, and father-daughter relationship takes place. The idea of celibacy resulted because of the marriage and relationship issues that the parents endured, and they feel like their children should not go through such issues. It is also because fathers are overprotective beings, and they view their daughters as vulnerable individuals who can be abused if no care is taken upon them. This is because the documentary looks into celibacy advocated upon girls.

Response And Analysis of Human Zoo- Science’s dirty secret

This documentary shades light on the early stages when the current structures of tourism observed were non-existent. The idea of perhaps using animals to form an attraction site was not universal, and this forced the then scientists to come up with Human Zoos. The Zoo was not designed for any human but especially the black people who could be coerced to do anything which could fascinate the people around. This was an act of racism that was carried out on the black people. The revelation of this heinous act showed the genesis of racism, which was kept as a secret.

This Human Zoo concentrated on the people with unique features that could surely fascinate the people. This is illustrated by the fact that short people from Congo were taken to Europe where the Zoo was located. The essential point is that apart from the black skin color, other physical attributes were desire because the intention of the Zoo was to act as a tourist center but with human beings and not as animals as it is currently common with the animal zoos. These people were forced to engage in activities that resemble those of animals because it was a time the black people were thought to belong to the family of apes.

The ideas of the white, as well as their perception they had, is shocking. They believed that the blacks, especially pygmies of Congo, could eat the raw animal meat, which had been earlier poisoned. These perceptions pulled the crowds of people who wanted to experience the mythical elements and utterances that had no proof at those times. These perceptions were driven by racist reasoning and the fact that blacks were still belittled. People had believed that Africa was a jungle with completely animal-like people. The idea of zoos was therefore motivated by the weird looks according to those who established it.

The fact that this idea was shrouded in secrecy shows the regrets and shame that was to be hidden for the sake of safeguarding reputation. It was an act that went against current human rights. The lack of scientific explanation was lacking, and perhaps people depended on Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Due to the hairy nature of Congo Pygmies kept in the Zoo, the news that black people indeed were of apes family spread, thus attracting many people and attaining its goal of a Zoo. This was the time people did not know what would befall in the future that black people could also do extraordinary things like the Europeans.

The Zoo became an experimental site where the reaction of people otherwise considered as primitive was conducted. The physical features were gladly contrasted because the freedom to use them was granted since these were the people who could not speak for their rights. Their lives were spent in the zoos just like animals do. The fact that people had some ‘animals’ with people featured made it an interesting affair. There could not harm them, and therefore people had good opportunities to mingle with them and even inflict pain on them to see their reaction. This act explains why the idea of this Zoo had been made a secret only to leak and got revealed later in the years.

Finally, the sole reason behind all these is racism. The ‘special’ race was fascinated with the Human Zoo because they would explore many things and even had time to prove the myths and stereotypes about black people. When the realization of the fact that black people would do that entire white people would if given time and freedom, they made a decision to keep everything under the carpet. The reason why secrets were kept is the infringement of the human rights. The black people who were kept in the Zoo were brought to Europe during the slave period, but the sole purpose was to keep them in the Zoo to provide a ‘magnificent’ tourist attraction different from that of animals.

Analysis and Response of Guys and Dolls Documentary

Guys and Dolls’ documentary looks into the ways people have adopted to ensure that they alleviate loneliness among the people. Some people are lonely because they find it hard to get a partner due to a variety of reasons. The four men highlighted in the documentary have sought a ‘refuge’ on the silicone-fleshed, anatomically correct Real Dolls, which could substitute human beings at some points. These dolls are treated as if they are alive and dressed affectionately, just like human beings, by those who take care of them. The excuse given by these four men is the inability to get a companion.

Though the characters in this documentary try to highlight the issues of loneliness and how to overcome them, there exist some gaps in terms of whether these dolls can cater for the real loneliness or not. The four men, as described in the documentary, have hidden desires that these dolls cannot take care of. There is a likelihood that people who seek the company of dolls do not like the company of their counterparts because of their sexuality issues, and the only resort is these dolls, which do not offer an entire company as human beings do. This only leaves then nursing the internal problems that cannot be solved by mere dolls.

The entry of dolls in the lives of the people does not answer some of the questions concerning the usual relationship of human beings. People who embrace the idea of dolls are the main participants in this emerging issue because dolls are mere objects and the fact that some people say that they are effective only believe so and imagine that they offer the company. Therefore, for people who think that dolls offer long-lasting solutions are likely to be in a rude shock when the relationship issues resurface.
