Friendship between Women
Thelma was an irrational and childish girl who was afraid, thoughtless, and untidy while Louise was a contrast; honest and confident. Throughout their friendship, Thelma is immature, and naïve while Louise acts as the mature woman and protective. Often, in the friendship between women, difficulties in circumnavigating through the complex interpersonal situations result to conflict. Louise takes control after murder and develops a plan of what should be done while Thelma freaks out. The relationship between Thelma and Louise depicts the different qualities of female friendship. The relationship often tend to be based more intimate sharing of personal information and problems compared to male friendship. Women are tend to be more careful with the way they communicate to build relationship. Thelma and Louise depicts a story of two women who have traditionally abandoned their role as women. The two women felt the urge of changing their position in the society, making them change the way they communicate from a normal way women communicate to a masculine form.
After the transformation, the men who also come in contact with the women change how they communicate. Therefore, these depicts that women are bound to communicate differently compared to men. Female friendship is often determined by the trust established between the two parties. Women tend to be more trusting which also contributes to growing controversy with their fellow women. In Thelma and Louise, their live drastically changed when Louise shoots and kills a man who met Thelma at a bar and raped her. They changed their way if communication and could not further their emotional ties with other men. These created a clear goal in their friendship and relationship buy building trust and clear goal in their relationship. Their friendship was primary based on protection from the outside world, comforting each other when the world outside is not friendly. The relationship is founded on pleasure, each of them looks at the well-being of the other and reprehends men who cross their way. Therefore, their relationship assist them reinforce a way of being free and easily expressing their emotions. Throughout the trip in the desert, they enhance their relationship when they experience love, boldness and sorrow.
Friendship between Men (Grumpy Old Men)
“Grumpy Old Men” was a popular 1993 movie highlighting the stories of Max and John, who were aging neighbors that have been arguing for over fifty years. The two are friends despite them professing to be sworn enemies. The film primarily focuses on friendship, love, sacrifice, choices, and forgiveness between Max and John. Men will always get attracted to a person whom they share common interests. The two old men were grumpy before an attractive woman, Ariel moved into the neighborhood and the rivalry between Max and John was renewed. The rivalry between the two men has persisted and it is now becoming a verbal war. Underneath the rivalry between Max and John, the movie focuses on love and friendship between the two men who envisioned they would not get along with one another. The two men had a sense of humor and would often joke with each other concerning their health issues, financial status. Men to men friendships do not attach emotions as opposed to relationship among women. Max and John often pranked each other and their friendship did not fade away. After meeting Ariel, they both were happier and improved their personal hygiene. Both of them were happier around Ariel compared to when they were alone.
Man Woman Friendship (My girl)
My girl is a film that depicts the friendship of boys and girls as they grow up and how they gradually separate themselves through their respective peer groups through the depiction of Vada and Thomas friendship. Their friendship seemed somehow awkward with Thomas having several allergies and barely leaves the house. There is always a friend for everyone regardless of any situation or time in life. The eagerness and hopes of first love are evident that kids often follow the formula. The friendship between man and woman is largely filled with emotions. Vada’s crush on Thomas shows their closeness, when Thomas was stung by a bee and died, Vada expressed empathy and a strong sense of loss. Often, Vada and Harry’s friendship expressed closeness through dialogue when they converse about the demise of her mother during childhood.
