Scenario 1: Clouded Promotion

In this case, the promotion of employees affects several stakeholders. They include the workers, the public, customers, and shareholders. Based on the ethical value of justice, dealings involving humans should be conducted impartially; hence promotions ought to be based on established company codes (Vanclay et al. 245). In this regard, the vice-chairman should not be endorsed since she does not meet the academic qualifications required in the new criteria. Going forward with the promotion could adversely affect each of the stakeholders. Employees would lose confidence in the personnel department, encouraging them to engage in corrupt practices. The public as well would perceive the company as unethical upon receiving the news, a factor that could lead to reduced support and collaboration. Investors would suffer financial loss from the reduced business due to accusations of immorality or the reduced performance of employees who lack rejuvenated commitment.

Scenario 2: Admiral and the Thieves

Handling theft cases must be ethically done, especially in conducting investigations. Examinations performed unethically can potentially harm stakeholders unjustifiably. The admiral’s decision to dismiss the west storeroom clear after apprehending thieves should be founded on conclusive studies to determine the involvement of each party in the theft. An appropriate guiding moral principle in non-maleficence, which requires the unintentional or intentional harming of an individual (Vanclay et al. 245). In this case, the admiral’s search for the culprit should not be meant to punish them for making a public statement rather than identifying leakages for proper prevention.

The decision to discharge the clerk without benefits ought to be guided by impartial investigations and company procedures. Fraudulently imposed sanctions can affect employees who suffer specific consequences. False accusations and dismissals can undercut motivation, leading to high turnover and uncooperative relations, hence undermining overall performance. In contrast, those who benefit from such conduct can continue with stealing. The civics lose faith in the organizations, lowing their support.
