The Research Approach and Design
Research Approach: The approach applied to conduct this study is pragmatic, which uses both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Thus, the study is broken down into quantitative and qualitative methods.
Research Design: The study will employ a descriptive research design to determine the relationship between the study variables. According to Kirsch (2012), graphic research design enables researchers in data collection, presentation, and analysis. The study will apply inferential statistics for the test of research variables. The survey strategy will be employed for its effectiveness in enabling of data quantity, cost-effective manner, and a sizable target group.
Sampling Procedures
A random sampling of 60 respondents, including personal investors and institutions fund managers, will be selected for this study. Moreover, there will be an equal proportion of the sample chosen in regards to gender. This will eliminate unbiasedness in the sample hence, improving the results reliability. The questionnaires will be distributed to the target population of the study with variables such as views and perceptions towards ESG Investment Strategies.
Protection of Human Subjects
The following are the ethical considerations that were used in the development of the research study:
- The process of data collection will be voluntary participation. The collection of the data will be based on informed consent. The principle of informed consent will involve the prior provision of information to allow further understanding of the data purpose.
- No harm should occur to the respondents during the collection of the data. Participants are not expected to carry out any tasks that may be deemed dangerous to the physical, emotional, and social aspects of the participants.
Data Collection and Analysis Procedures
Primary and secondary data will be collected for the study purpose through various techniques. Self-administered questionnaires will be distributed to the target participants for this study to give their primary responses in regards to ESG Investment Strategies. Surveys will be designed with an introductory cover letter with a short description, detailing the data purpose to minimize mistrust and non-response. On the other hand, the Performance of different ESG Investment Strategies in the United Kingdom for the year 2018 will be sampled necessary comparison for this study. Data collection will take at least two weeks to surpass the time for respondents to address all the structured questions. Data will be analyzed using SPSS to assess and evaluate the respondents’ responses. Thus, implied findings will be used to reach a realistic, appropriate, valid conclusion to the study objectives. Through descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, research hypotheses will be either proven or rejected.
