Security in Linux is better than Windows- A brief justification

Linux OS is better than Windows in terms of security because hackers are unable to see the code. It is proprietary software and therefore exploiting the code is harder for hackers. Linux is advantageous over Windows when employed in a small business. The security staffs would be able to handle the OS in a dedicated manner. The privileges of Linux are better. Account privileges in Linux are assigned carefully in comparison to the account privileges of Windows. The users cannot access the “root” privileges, and it implies that a malicious virus lacks root access (Salah et al., 2013). It also implies that the likelihood of system damage is low, and the chances of major catastrophe are limited as well. In Windows systems, the social engineering is rampant. Users are somehow convinced to open attachments that they should not open as it carries worms and viruses. It leads to disastrous consequences across the organization. In Linux, the users lack root access and therefore, damaging a Linux system can be challenging for malicious viruses. Again, Linux creates diversity in the world of computing. It offers Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu and similar other distributions. Apart from running in Intel, Linux also runs across different infrastructures. Targeting users by using a virus is far easier in Windows than in Linux. Although, Windows has maintained consistency in dominating the computing world, the technology offered by Linux is far reaching and attacking the Linux users is a difficult task. This, in turn, gives the company an additional layer of protection or assurance.
