Introduction
My name is (PICK RANDOM NAME OF CHOICE) I am a parent of a student who also happens to be a part of the school basketball team. In line with child development and the school’s value in extra-curriculum, participation sports play an essential role in the child’s cognitive ability as well as physical fitness (Felfe, p.1, 2016). This proposal aims to run a fundraiser that will enable the basketball team to acquire uniforms. My push to drive this campaign is as a result of the remarkable performance that has been witnessed all through the year by our children. I thank the effort put by the teachers and the school board at large and that my action is geared to ensure our children have the best kits when it comes to sporting. The venue of the fundraiser will be at the fire department picnic grove, and the proposed date is on 20th April.
Planning
A concern was raised during one of the talks with the school coach that many of the basketballs team uniforms are out of date. I already have a team of 15 volunteers, and together, our goal is to raise $1600 in order to purchase the uniforms. The fundraising campaign will kick on at 8:30 am with final touches on the venue that will have been prepared the previous day. We are expecting a total of 400 people to attend and will be charged $2 as an entrée fee and get a paper wrist band for participation. Refreshments will be served to all attendees thanks to our supportive business community who have committed to providing donations. The donations will cut our cost of running the event considerably. Also, I request to use the empty stores to keep all the provision that will have been donated and that the process is overseen by the coach.
The primary source of revenue will be auctioning, and a sporting event that will see ten basketball teams take part. In the auctioning process, we estimate to raise $800, that will cover half of the projected amount. The sporting event will be the first to commence while every participant is energized and will run until midday (Kelly,2019). Local restaurants have pitched to offer meals, but we are required to cover the cost of the ingredients. In regards to this, the cost of the food that will be served will be the same as the retail price in those restaurants. Taking the gate charges, auction revenue and in-house sales, we expect to reach our target with ease. The 15 volunteers will handle the refreshment tent and sale of food. I will head the auctioning process and any other arising matters of concern.
Around $550 will be used in planning for the fundraiser. To attract the required number of people to the event poster will be used int advertisement through posters at the cost of $50. Ingredients to be used will consume three-quarter of the budget. The advertisement process will also take advantage of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram since they are cost-effective and can reach a significant number of the areas’ population (Brown, 2018).
Students will be encouraged to tag their peers and parents to participate in the event. An online platform will be useful in receiving the donation from individuals who are willing to participate in the event but cannot make it due to other commitments. The organizing team plans to use the half of the excess amount received from the event will to reward the business and restaurants who will participate in the event. I believe when this action is supported, it will motivate the student and boost their sports’ performance. I trust in the school board to be reasonable enough and put the interest of the students at heart and provide the needed support.
