Teaching Middle Childhood and Adolescent Education
Teaching is a nation-building profession aiming to change the lives of many children. Natural teachers love sharing knowledge and skills with children at an early age. They have the desire to communicate and inspire children, and their primary purpose is to teach to reach many children and see their progress and success develop overtime. Many people chose the teaching profession to make different changes in the lives of students because they impart life lessons that influence their behaviors and decision making (Fokkens et al., 69). The purpose of this paper is to discuss my motivation to become a teacher in middle and high school students.
My motivation to become a middle and high school teacher is to give back to the community (Fokkens et al., 67). Teaching will make impart to middle and high school students. My favorite teacher changed my life when I was in a lower grade, and I would love to share the same with the new generation.
Secondly, I want to change the lives of the students by impacting their lives with knowledge and skills (Fokkens et al., 70). It has been my passion to encourage the students in grades 5 to 9 to realize their potential. I want to influence their efficient decision, proper behavior to shape the future generation. For example, in the poem by Taylor Mali, I will make kids’ work harder than they could think, which is a motivation for all teachers to work towards achieving success.
Third, I want to improve the quality of education of middle and high school students because there are schools that in need of teachers caused by low teachers retention and budgetary concerns (Fokkens et al., 73). The middle and high school levels of students drop out increase every day, and it is my passion to improve the quality of education and impact the education system.
There are many challenges associated with teachings, such as disobedience, rudeness of students, and the patient of student decrease as they grow up (Fokkens et al., 74). It is caused by new-age competition and the availability of sources of knowledge, such as the internet. I have worked with elementary school, and I have experienced these challenges.
I am currently a paraprofessional, so I have experience being in the classroom, and I have worked only in an elementary school setting. Still, I am looking forward to working with students in grades five to nine. I am currently applying for a graduate program to receive my master’s in teaching middle childhood and adolescent education. I want to specialize in the English subject.
The personal attributes that enable teachers to work effectively with students between 12 to17 are their patience, caring, and kind personality. Secondly, other characteristics are the knowledge of learners, dedication in teaching, and the ability to develop a relationship with students. An appropriate relationship between teachers and students ensures a conducive teaching environment and quality performance of students (Fokkens et al., 74). I am caring, patient, and I have the ability to develop a good relationship with students to impart their lives well. From my experience in elementary school, I have learned that students have a different understanding of various stages of development, student’s needs, and abilities. I have learned the pace and capacity of students to understand in class, and I believe I can swiftly work with them well.
In conclusion, teaching is a nation-building profession aiming to change the lives of many children. My motivation to become a middle and high school teacher is to give back to the community; I want to change the lives of the students through improving their lives with knowledge and skills and to improve the quality of education of middle and high school students. I have worked only in elementary school. The personal attributes that enable teachers to work effectively with students between 12 to17 are their patience, caring, and kind personality.
