Healthcare Management Case Studies
- What are the behaviors that seem to bother Eileen?
The behavioral aspect that seems to bother Eileen is the fact that a coworker, Geoffrey, develops a lack of interest within the interpersonal workshop relations (Buchbinder, 2017). During the presentation of Eileen, he lounges on his seat as well as looks bored with the ongoing lessons within the workshop. Geoffrey is arrogant and hostile.
- What assumptions – explicit and implicit – do you think Eileen is operating under in this situation?
Eileen operates in the assumption that the actions of Geoffrey are deliberate, such actions portray lack of effective communication, and other participants are bothered by his actions. Additionally, she considers the actions to be detrimental to the organization’s performance, and a memo is effective in solving the situation.
- Of the assumptions that you have identified, which ones could Eileen check by simple research and inquiry? How could she do this?
By simple inquiry and research Eileen would decide to ask every organizational member to survey on their feelings regarding the path the group is heading towards and the challenges that seem to emerge, as well as asking how Geoffrey would have felt if the same could have happened to him.
- What judgments and attributions is Eileen making?
Eileen is attempting to use the previous beliefs on ways in which the participants should conclude on the behavior of Geoffrey to be disrespectful and rude (Buchbinder, 2017). She has the assumption that all participants have to behave. The oversimplification demonstrated by Geoffrey might have created the impression of being disrespectful and rude.
- What are some possible explanations for how Geoffrey sees this situation?
The actions of Geoffrey may be due to lack of interest in training since it entails common knowledge. Also, he may dislike the teaching skills of Eileen. The training may be sanctioned against his will. Furthermore, it may be due to personal problems that Geoffrey may be incurring.
- What feedback would you recommend Eileen give Geoffrey?
I would recommend a sit down with Geoffrey to determine the problem before coming to conclusions. Additionally, Eileen has to interpret Geoffrey’s behaviors to determine if the opinion is wrong or right. Furthermore, Eileen has to analyze the characteristics portrayed by Geoffrey to determine the impact it has on organizational performance.
- Give an alternative interpretation of this scenario that offers a version of what’s happening that is consistent with the events described, but that you think Eileen would disagree with?
The actions of Geoffrey are due to shyness. Also, the environment may seem not conducive for him to train. Additionally, the training may be a must despite others being against it, or his perfectness towards the job makes him develop the disinterest in training.
