MacBook Pro and Hp spectre x360
This project will talk about laptop brands Hp spectre x360 and MacBook Pro. We will start by showing comparisons on both fixed, variable, and total costs of the laptops. The prices of the machines will be compared over six years in terms of extra purchasing items. Additionally, our experiences and research done on these products will be combined to conclude them. The product that saves money and annoying trips to maintenance shops will be figured out.
- Step 1: The fixed price of Hp is $1, 260 while that of MacBook is $2,299. It costs one dollar more than a Hp spectre x360.
- Step 2: While using MacBook pro, one is forced to us some dongles for high connectivity. The starting price of a MacBook is $2,299 per laptop. However, there are some extras in this model that need to be bought for the machine to be upgraded. The core processor comes at different levels depending on speed and storage. An additional RAM of thirty-two Ginger Bytes and a 512GB SSD is needed. A drive of one TeraByte is needed as an extra and 2TB for the upgrade. Over xi years, Hp spectre needs a new battery, upgrade on Ram, and a new resolution screen. This is because its battery can only last for four years and each laptop comes with a low-resolution screen. To increase the speed of the laptop a higher Ram is needed.
- Step 3: the costs of new upgrades for MacBook Pro was researched and found. It will cost four hundred dollars to upgrade the core to i9. An additional $400 for a RAM of thirty-two Ginger Bytes and a 512GB SSD for two hundred dollars is needed. A drive of one TeraByte is needed as an extra for a price of six hundred dollars. Moreover, an additional 2TB is required for a cost of $1, 400 in the upgrade. For Hp Spectre x360, a battery of $150, a screen with high resolution $ 400, and a 64GB RAM costing $380 is needed for extras. Both laptops come with an inbuilt anti-virus hence no extra cost for the same.
- Step 4: Hp Spectre x360 has larger top and bottom bezels that are fitted in its display compared to smaller MacBook pro’s bezel. MacBook is relatively smaller in all areas compared HP spectre. It has a thinness of 0.61 inches compared to Spectre 0.76. Hp spectre x360 is heavier than MacBook making them easily portable. Both laptops are built with high quality by use of aluminum. Spectre chassis is attractive and build for the future while MacBook has maintained the same metal design over the years. The Hp laptop has is design like a piece of jewelry hence very attractive. The keyboard of Hp is standard and offers comfort whereas that of MacBook offers less comfort for extended services. The touchpad of MacBook is bigger than that of spectre x360. A small touchpad for Hp uses synaptic drivers while that of MacBook employs Microsoft drivers. There is better connectivity using Hp spectre than MacBook pro due to their two USB-C ports which have thunderbolt three supports. Specter Performance is high but less than MacBook’s due to the level of cores. It is a two in one laptop with a core of i7-8570H while MacBook has i9-8950HK. (Liang et al., 2018). For spectre to outsource MacBook’s speed it is required to use NVidia GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q. Random-access memory of MacBook is 32GB which is higher than Hp’s 16GB. Both displays of the laptops are excellent but the on for Spectre is not suitable for professionals. MacBook is the fastest laptop in speed and connectivity making it good for performance. Mack books are always smaller and lighter than any other laptop making it portable. It is not the smallest in terms of size but it is more portable than Hp Spectre x360. The prices of the two differ with MacBook being the most expensive. Its price increase when a much higher score, Ram and storage are used.
- The touch-screen design of spectre x360 2-in-1 is better and useful than the MacBook pro’s touch bar. The touch bar has failed to show value during its time. Features and overall design of Hp make it outstanding compared to MacBook. Spectre has an OLED display while MacBook pro possesses a Retina display that cannot be compared to the Hp spectre x360 model. The brightness of spectre x360 emits more nits than pro’s 354 nits. Hp laptop also tops in the color accuracy. Both keyboards from the two laptops have failed to meet the required standards. Graphics of Spectre are much higher than MacBooks. However, Hp scores less on the performance of the graphic designs. Both laptops have almost the same battery lives but MacBook tops with a slight difference (Forsell, 2018). Many features are set in spectre to ensure user security and privacy is kept. The camera of this type of laptop is kept hidden for privacy. It is with no doubt that spectre x360 is more stylish than the MacBook pro.
- Adding the original price of a MacBook with the extras we have; $2, 299 + $400 + $400 + $200 + $600 + $1, 400 = $6, 299. For six years MacBook pro prices have shot up due to extras while Hp spectre x360 has remained at low prices of $1,260+$150+$380+$400= $2, 190. The total costs of Hp are the same together with fixed costs. Variable costs vary depending on volumes of production for both MacBook and Hp spectre. The total costs are higher in MacBook compared to Hp spectre x360 (Nguyen, 2017).

Based on the research, it is found that both laptops do not need anti-virus but require upgrades on RAM, storage, screen, and battery to improve functionality. However, these upgrades are not a must on MacBook Pro laptops.

MacBook Pro upgrade is not mandatory as its battery, graphics, and screen resolutions can still function better than Hp spectre. Although MACs are expensive, they are the best for both students and professionals due to their good functionality and processing speed. MacBook Pro is the best laptop and I would recommend it.
