The Other Side of the Story Book Reflection

The Other Side of the Story by Daphine is a book based on a true story of her life. Her life is full of misfortunes. People usually tend to rely on the criminal justice systems to seek justice in times of iniquities. The criminal justice systems can, however, do the opposite sometimes. Wrongful convictions are an issue that has been seen throughout history chiefly in the American judicial systems. Many innocent people in the United States have been wrongly convicted for crimes they didn’t commit even when there is factual evidence to prove their innocence. The wrongful convictions are mostly due to prejudices based on racial or religious grounds. African Americans have been on the receiving hand on this particular issue as a result of discrimination. Daphine’s story is one that any African American can relate with, as it demonstrates how the judicial systems have wrongly convicted many of them without any solid proves. Jack was aware of the iniquities many people have suffered in their fight to seek justice in the criminal justice systems. She was a victim of the same, and her family was affected. It is something she must reveal to others to open their eyes while inspiring them never to give up.

Jack and her family have gone through hardships in the story. Her life was shaken. Her family was falling apart. Yet, Jack never gave up. She fought till the very end. Her relentlessness in the story is admirable and inspiring. She was a religious woman, and she trusted in God. Even though she was going through tempting situation, she never doubted the existence of God, and she kept believing in Him.

As the story begins, Jack Daphine was heading home in her car from work. She was evaluating her day, and she was grateful for all her consecrations. She was sure that her life was doing create, and she had nothing to be worried about. Just as her conscious tells her something is amiss, she receives a call from her daughter. She informed her of false accusations that were made on her husband. Jack’s husband was wrongly blamed for a crime. Everything changed for her in an instance. Her life and that of her family took a different course. Daphine went through a difficult situation as she tries to seek justice from her husband in the judicial system. As the condition in Daphine’s home become intolerable, she knew that her only hope is God. She turns to faith to get her solace and strength. In the book, she says, “It is essential to never give up on God. Trial and tribulation come, but it is necessary to endure to the end.”

The story is, therefore, about the flaws in judicial systems in our society. The book shows how judicial systems will not always be fair. Many times the opposite of what we will expect from the legal systems is accurate. We might be caught up in legal turmoil, and we might even be innocent and think that all will be well since the judicial system always accords justice to the righteous. However, we should know that this is not still the case. Legal system has its inadequacies too, and this is the reason why people are wrongly convicted like Daphine’s husband. One should, therefore, be knowledgeable about their rights so that when such situations occur, they can be safe. This is also the reason why one should read this book. Daphine’s story gives a more in-depth look into the judicial systems in our society.

The story is also about encouragement in times of trials. Her family held on their faith amid the horrible circumstances. Daphine’s family was falling apart due to the wrong allegations against her husband. The family was shattered, but they never gave up. Daphine persistence and steadfast faith is a force to reckon with in the book. She fought to get justice from her husband and held onto her hope without giving up. Her story is inspiring, and reading it will fortify the significance of pressing on no matter the situation we are in, even when everyone is giving in. Only God knows what He has planned for, and maybe when you are just on the verge of giving up, the triumph you have been hoping for comes your way. Therefore, Daphine’s story gives a sign of hope and encouragement to those going through hard times never to give up and always trust in God to get them out of it.
The suspense used in this book has made the book very interesting to read for me. The author uses suspense throughout the play very effectively. Daphine’s writing style is very appealing and a page-turner. I mean, you can’t just get enough of the story from a single page. It has made me want to know what will happen page after page. The fact that the author also never discloses the allegations against her husband is a point that will make you want to read the book to the very end in just one sitting. The writing strategy that the author used is apparent, and it made the book very interesting.

Daphine story had taught me a lot about the flaws in our judicial systems. It has taught me the fact that the same legal systems we usually run to when we need justice, can at times, perpetrate many injustices on us. Criminal justice systems that have been entrusted with guarding the rights of the citizens can snatch those rights from them even when you are innocent. The story has opened my eyes to the real-time issues happening in judicial systems that are opposite to the expectations of the general public. The book has also taught me the importance of holding on and never giving up during times of crisis.

In conclusion, this book has opened my eyes to the fact that there are many wrongful convictions and possible inequities faced within the judicial systems. Many people in society might have been accused of wrongly and prosecuted for crimes they didn’t commit due to the ineffectiveness in the criminal justice systems in the community. We should be aware of this the fact that the judicial system is both good and bad. As much as it is the custodian of our rights, it has flaws too.
