Sources of Information
Gathering information on a child’s study team is essential and comes from different sources. This information will be used to determine whether the student will be eligible for the program. One of the sources of information is the school and the child’s teachers. Information is drawn from the child’s performance in the previous year’s goals. The child’s parents also give vital information to be used by the team. The student-parent shares information that the school professionals may not have because both interact with the child in different environments. The grades of the students are also sources of information including observations on his behavior. The child’s interests and talents are good sources of information, his hobbies, non-curricular activities, and other out of class activities (center, 2018).
The experts that paly roles include the child’s schoolteacher is important in gathering this information for they oversee the child’s academic records and progress. The social worker needs to assess the interaction of the student with their family, school, and community. Psychologist checks the child’s development and cognitive abilities, emotional strength, and behavioral problems. A speech therapist evaluates a child’s ability to communicate effectively. A Learning Disability Consultant identifies a child’s learning style to develop a special learning program for the child (Specialednews, 2020).
Comments
When the intervention of the extra work by the teacher does not work, the experts that form the Childs Study Team look for various reasons by collecting information about the child and try to come up with a proper plan to help the child develop and get the most in education. These experts identify all the areas around the child by getting accurate information about a child. They meet before the special education testing a continue to meet occasionally if the child still needs special services.
