A General Summary in the Field of TESOL
From what I have learned from the field of TESOL, it has been a very productive year. Beginning with the topic of teacher roles, this has been one of the fantastic issues. This is because it expresses how the teacher expresses his or her teachings to the students through the use of different techniques, such as the language of a teacher. Firstly, from what we learned on the topic of the various functions involved in teaching, I have come to relate them closely with what our peers have been learning with my peers, making it a very anxious topic to learn. This topic has been very comprehensive, and most of all, a fascinating subject since it has helped me in learning the roles of a teacher (Vázquez, 2013, p. 69).
Firstly, I have come to learn the functions involved in the line of teaching, making me be of know-how wherever I am going into a classroom as a teacher. Apart from that, it has also helped me to understand how one should approach the students whenever I am teaching and so that I can get their attraction. Through the help of this topic, I have also come to learn that being a teacher does not only involve being a teacher; there are some specific techniques a teacher has to use. For example, a teacher who teaches different subjects cannot use the same methods on both items. There must be the language the teacher adopts in each issue. And whenever the teaches have the language for a particular course or matter, then it is straightforward for the students to get what the teacher is teaching. From what I have learned from my peers and different researches is that there is a need for a teacher to adopt a language that the teacher uses in his or her course. Besides qualifying as a teacher, the teacher should choose a word for a particular session, and this will help the teacher and also the students at ease to understand what is required of them. The language adopted by the teacher helps them the design of thinking, and most of all, it helps the teacher to have the best recitation and memorization of the subject as a teacher. From the experiences, I have to understand that those students that post good results in class their teachers have the right language for the course or the designated subject. This course has been of much help to me in understanding the roles of a teacher (Widjaja, 202, p.556).
Apart from the roles of a teacher, we also have planned and teaching a skills lesson, and from this topic, I chose the section of writing. Writing skill is very important in every sector of either learning or any other practical, and for one to be well skilled in writing one does not only need a pen a writing material but also there is need for different skills and also techniques. From what I have come to learn in this topic is that there is a need for one to plan well whenever it intends to have a writing. For one to be a good one must be willing to have in-depth research on the topic of the paper, apart from just the study the issue designated for the writing one should consider the right techniques and the proper language for the subject. The skills that I have learned is that one should have very engaging writing, good in grammar, and also punctuation. In the part of being engaging is an extensive topic such that the way the book is flowing should be able to rhyme with the vocabulary being used in writing. Apart from just the dictionary, there is also a need for one to be of high clarity on the topic assigned (Nurdianto, 2019, p.78).
Lastly, from what I have learned from this topic is that for one to have very appealing writing, there is a need for one to be skilled in the line of what one is writing. There is a need for research. The skills used should co-relate very carefully with the topic of writing, and also techniques used should even rhyme very nicely with the theme of writing. This field of TESOL has been very productive, for I have been able to gather the necessary skills required in the teacher roles and also the planning and teaching a skills lesson.
