Definition of hospitality
The term hospitality, from its face value, refers to the generous and friendly treatment of visitors, guests, or even strangers. This aspect goes beyond the hotel industry. Given this as the case, this study is dedicated to the digital industry. Hospitality, in a nutshell, ensures that the clients are satisfied regardless of the business venture. Consequently, given the current rate of increased innovations and inventions, that is the digital era, the phenomenon of hospitality has changed its meaning and application.
Applying the PESTEL framework, the technology aspect of this framework dictates that service delivery should be prompt, responsive, and should be specific with feedback for it to be said to have embraced hospitality. This is especially when it comes to product and service reviews. The technological aspect comes in, in this case, in the sense that many organizations now provide online live chat to its clients to enhance promptness, responsiveness, and specificity in feedback in regard to product and service delivery (Andrew, 2011).
On the other hand, the social aspect of hospitality portrays itself in terms of socializing, whereby the service providers inform the clients what they are going to do, and why they are actually doing what they are doing (Lashley, Lynch, & Morrison, 2011). In this case, the client will be able to make sound decisions that may subsequently prompt sales. Therefore, hospitality can serve a great deal in boosting sales. As a technical manager in my field of computer science, while working with the digital industry, I am hoping to use hospitality as a means of offsetting competition. An example of a firm in the hospitality organization that offers scope of global operation to this industry is Apple Company Inclusive.
Last but not least, the economic aspect of the PESTEL framework can also be mapped to hospitality. In this case, positive feedback courtesy of hospitality can help in boosting sales (Chon, & Maier, 2010). For instance, when it comes to the tourism industry, positive feedback from the visiting clients may help in attracting more clients to the firm, thus making it to break even with ease. For this reason, many firms prefer providing the highest levels of hospitality in order to ensure that they remain relevant in the market. To this end, it can, therefore, be stated that the hotel and tourism industry value the aspect of hospitality as this helps in determining their survival rates.
In conclusion, I individually found out that many nations that have booming hotel and tourism sectors are known to embrace high levels of hospitality. From this discussion post, I realized that the PESTEL framework can be mapped to the concept of hospitality. Therefore, it is recommended that hospitality should be the number one goal. The topic area of hospitality was generated due to lack of friendly service delivery and this was due to lack of staff sensitization of what is expected of them, thus necessitating planning for staff development. Hospitality is an important component in driving an organization to the next level as it overally enhances client satisfaction.
