Christian teachings on life
My worldview is based on biblical and Christian teachings which emphasize that all life is sacred and with special-purpose but human life is sacred. God put a lot of effort into creating human beings and gave them responsibilities. Although we as Christians are taught not to fear death, we are also reminded that life is a gift from God and only God will take it away when the time comes (Liégeois & De Schrijver, 2018). No man has the authority to take someone’s life. Many Christians believe that every human person was created with a purpose and everyone should respect how precious it is. One of the commandments clearly states that humans should not commit murder (Liégeois & De Schrijver, 2018).
When it comes to controversial bioethics issues like abortion, my worldview is based on Christian teachings. The Bible teaches that a conceived embryo in the womb is a human being whose life is precious and has a purpose. In this regard, performing or consenting in an abortion is killing which against God and laws in various countries (Castuera, 2017). However, the supporters of abortion base their arguments on the right to choose and personal autonomy. However, according to my worldview, although there is freedom of choice everything is based on the will of God. There are laws in the Christians that prohibit people from exercise that right to choose. For instance in Romans 6, the Bible states that God forbids people from using their freedom of choice to do the things God has called them sinful (Castuera, 2017). This argument still stands on the topic of designer babies and stem cells. Christian believes that natural conception is the only method of making a baby.
