The participation of local professional organizations
The participation of local professional organizations is vital in addressing a practice problem. Their importance arises because of their proximity to the end-users of policies and guidelines. Accordingly, they have a better understanding of local contexts, a factor that makes improves the efficiency of interventions. Additionally, it is much easier for them to note any problems that may arise during the process of implementing the proposed interventions when compared to national stakeholders. In this essay, identification of the local stakeholders, as well as their roles, will occur.
The local nursing organization is crucial in the process. The Texas Nurses Association (TNA) is an affiliate of the American Nurses Association (ANA). It plays an integral role in eradicating the practice problem by providing local nurses with opportunities for Continuing Nursing Education (CNE). Continuing education is critical in equipping nurses with the knowledge of collecting epidemiological data about a disease and the crafting of evidence-based research to address the problem. Further, the association is important because it offers nurses a chance to undertake advocacy. The advocacy can be aimed at the local or national authorities on the need to increase resources for addressing the issue.
The local chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) is also a vital stakeholder in addressing the practice issue. AACE has designed guidelines whose aim is to address the management of obesity (Pessah-Pollack & Plodkowski, 2016). The local chapter can educate local nurses and other practitioners on the guidelines, including their benefits to both the professionals and patients. Such a step would improve stakeholder buy-in into the clinical guidelines; hence, improving the quality of care available to patients.
