Coronavirus pandemic
Summary
Concerning the coronavirus outbreak, state leadership has adopted different approaches to curb this menace, where some of them have been noted to violate the bill of rights. Recently, Tucker Carlson expressed his doubts concerning New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s leadership capabilities, after he closed many state gardens in response to coronavirus pandemic.
Murphy’s actions involved closing all the parks in the state and prohibiting mass gatherings. This move was due to the increasing rate of coronavirus within his jurisdiction. The confirmed cases stood at 71,000, with 3,156 deaths, a number higher than in any other state except New York. Despite the issuance of the ban by murphy, Tucker Carlson highly critiqued the scenario where fifteen men were arrested assembling in a synagogue in Lakewood, as reported by Philadelphia Inquirer.
According to Carlson, the American bill of rights also grants the citizens right to worship regardless of the methodology. According to Carlson, the Governor had no legal right to breach this provision, but Murphy reiterated by saying that the increasing pandemic rates moved him to embrace the action.
Reaction.
During times of crisis, different measures call for adoption regardless of law provisions. Though the law grants every American citizen has the right to worship, it is also crucial to factor the lives of people. However, during the time of crisis, leaders ought to consult others, a move that murphy embraces before issuing the directive. Besides, the difference in political affiliations and opinions should not negatively influence national decision making as a common good of people is also essential.
