Children born with congenital disabilities that result from alcoholic mothers experience a lot of problems in their adulthood stage. Most drunkard pregnant women expose their children to danger, which becomes more adverse when they grow up. Disorders like heart problems; Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism, and Cognitive issues appear first in early childhood. Later, in adult years they become challenging and difficult to control. Alcoholism affects the psychological process of a child hence causing mental issues in the adult stages (Parisi, Di Filippo & Roccella, 2015). Most of the children experience biological problems, which affects them to their adulthood stage. Emotional issues that affect children at their adult stage include depression\, anxiety, and anger, among others. It may later lead to drug abuse and alcohol hereditary.

Autism is one of the most known disorders that affect children of alcoholic mothers. The disease continues to develop until it results in difficult challenges to the child in the adult years. It is a neuro-development condition that affects the way brain processes information. It is characterized by difficulty in interpreting data, which leads to misunderstanding. The victim also experiences a problem in maintaining friendships, even with close people. Communication difficulties are a significant challenge to the children affected since they own a tendency to take things literally (Parisi, Di Filippo & Roccella, 2015). Autism has got no cure; therefore, some interventions are made to support the victims to develop social skills and strategies.

Premature birth has got long term effects that a child at its young age and also at the adult years. The results include mental retardation, hearing and visual impairments, and weak growth and health. The children are also likely to have early intervention and special education. When they grow and become adults, they become prone to chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension.  Immature brains and respiratory problems are as a result of premature birth. Conditions like asthma are experienced by children who are born prematurely than the ones born on the term.

The premature children are not able to feed on breasts or a bottle at birth; therefore, they suffer from feeding and digestive problems. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum disorder is another fate problem that affects adults. It occurs when a pregnant mother drinks during pregnancy period; therefore, the fetus is exposed to alcohol. As the child grows up, some problems arise which affect it till the adult years. The issues include slow development of the child, mental retardation, and facial abnormalities. There is no known treatment for the disorder; therefore, the child grows with it till the old age.

The cognitive problem affects children progressively until it becomes a significant problem for the child at an adult age. It is a neurocognitive disorder that impairs the cognitive function of an individual to a point normal functioning is difficult unless given treatment. Hormonal imbalance in the womb of a pregnant woman causes the cognitive disorder, which affects the fetus. The disease manifests itself in many ways, accompanied by emotional balance. There are physical signs displayed by cognitive problems, which include the effect of motor coordination and lack of balance and posture of the body (Lorenzo-Luaces, German & DeRubeis, 2015).  Treatment of cognitive problems is done by giving drugs that prevent loss of memory to a patient. The disorder has got short term effects that include memory loss, lack of coordination, and state of confusion. Long term effects include lack of emotional stability and lack of controlling oneself. It also leads to loss of declarative memory, which provides for forgetting of name and other things.

Children born under alcoholic mothers experience a lot of vital issues. They cause long term effects until they become adults. Children learn the behavior of alcoholic parents which they troll with it till adulthood. Most of the children experience emotional and behavioral problems together with physical and emotional neglect. Alcoholic parents are unable to provide support, guidance, and the care that the children deserve, and this causes emotional neglect. The children of alcoholic parents develop depression and anxiety. It also leads to trauma, and the children grow up to be anxious (Salthouse, 2016). It is difficult to treat this kind of torture from children; therefore, a lifetime therapy would help to separate the emotional problems experienced under different circumstances.

Psychological problems associated with alcoholic parents are trust issues where adult children grow under norms of lies, denial, and secret-keeping, which makes them grow is such a manner. They believe that trusting people does not have a positive impact. Self-judgment is another psychological issue that makes a child feels inadequate while comparing themselves to others. It makes them avoid social situations and isolate themselves. Most of them start seeking approval from their friends since they do not believe in themselves (Salthouse, 2016). A socio-economic problem that children face includes difficulty in establishing their freedom. Creating an identity becomes difficult for children since, during their young age, it was difficult for them to socialize and express themselves to their friends.
