Time for a Sports Degree

Universities and colleges students for all students into their professions except for students pursuing sports related courses. It should be noted that there are students that take degrees in kinesiology, sports management, and other related courses. Students who are talented in athletics and those who pursue sport courses are denied an opportunity to perform like how students in other entertainment courses such as music and creative writing. Such opportunities are not provided in the curriculum. This is a crucial omission and it should be reconsidered since the sports sector that provides employment and as source of entertainment to many Americans. Therefore, it is vital to ensure that sports students should get a structured curriculum and degree that focuses on benefiting the sports students. Other entertainment courses focuses on production that benefits the students in those sectors, thus, the same needs to be done in the sports performance degrees.

It is time to provide a sport performance degree since the demand professional athletes is high in all games such as tennis, golf and others. Therefore the students need to enhance their skills, talents, dedication, training, and preparation to ensure they become professionals to meet the demand of professionals. This can be achieved by increasing the knowledge on advanced techniques and methods in baseball and football players and analyzing techniques and strategies needed to golf and tennis games. The students need to understand these strategies, techniques, and methods as they form the basis of their carrier in sports. Providing sports as a extracurricular activity does not provide enough performance, and therefore, the performance aspect needs to be emphasized in sports professionals through well established curriculum and traditions.

Already sport is an extracurricular activity in most colleges and universities, and the only task now is to create a syllabus on what shall get covered in the four-year course that will meet the requirements of sports performance degree. They can get ideas on how other entertainment courses are conducted. The curriculum needs to create the requirements for the sports performance degree in a solid structure, and clearly stated. Just like in other entertainment courses, the sports students should spend adequate time in performing and training, and must demonstrate their skills in front of an audience that has experts and critical analyzers. Although different sports would attract diverse audiences, what matters most is the amount of preparedness that the student has. Confidence and academic integrity are required to ensure that sport gets included in the curriculum.

The athletic department together with university academic affairs can develop standards for performance standards and ensure they comply with them. The education institutions need to facilitate the credits for performance and instructional activities. Occasionally the institutions should invite the superstars in sports to motivate, advice, and train the students; thus their skills will be enhanced professionally. The main challenge that faces the achievement of sports performance degree is the continuous operating intercollegiate sports as an auxiliary entertainment enterprise that are damaging the success of the college sports activity and detriment the success of sports sstudents to display their talent and skill. The field needs a robust president, who have adequate knowledge of the program and who can mobilize potential investors to ensure that the sport gets provided as a performance degree in higher learning.

The video that I identified for this discussion shows a child by the name of Matt, who is throwing a tantrum in the store. In the video, the family decides to go and buy something from the store, while in the store, Matt is told to hold on the trolley and not to let go. However, Matt refuses to listen to instructions, and when he asks for a gumball, the mother refuses to buy him one because he did not listen to instructions. The best type of functional behavior assessment to use in this case is the Conditional Probability Record (CRP).  Conditional Probability record will help the observer to identify and record the antecedents and the consequences of the behavior. The observer will then be able to identify the probability of the behavior when a specific antecedent is present (Steege, 2019).   In this case, the observer will record all the antecedents and the consequences of Matt throwing a tantrum. The observer will then be able to tell the likelihood of Matt acting up when a specific antecedent is prevalent. The observer will then be able to come up with a percentage of intervals showing how the behavior occurs when a certain antecedent is present and the consequences.
