Spain, 1936 and Heroic Spain
Both the two films, Spain, 1936, and Heroic Spain, appeared in a similar period, and a time War emerged as a result of conflicts between nationalists and imperialists. The films covered the events that took place from the Spanish Civil War from 1936 up to the end of the war. Heroic Spain explored the aftermath of the war, and the film exposed some of the impacts of the war on Spanish history and traditions. Even after the end of the Spanish Civil War, there was hostility between nationalists and imperialists. And this conflicts between the two sides is what Heroic Spain tried to expose. The two films fueled by propangandas, and I think it aimed to provoke the emotions of viewers and thus join the movement. In both films, I noted the main message was to agitate for radical change that is democracy, freedom, and peace. The aim if the films was to see Spain is free from the bandage of the imperialist. The film of Spain, 1936, was politically motivated by the Republicans who wanted to see Spain governs itself. On the other side, Heroic Spain film exposed how the war negatively impacted traditions of Spain. The film was also interested to expose the history and cultural heritage of Spain. Unlike the Spain, 1936 film that was politically motivated. Both the films conveyed a message of nationalism and liberation to their audiences. I think the films tried to advance a specific ideology that Spain was arising from old regime to a modernization with urban society that still hold to its traditional values.
