Management of an organization
Introduction
An organization is a coordinated unit that constitutes people with a common goal. As a unit, an organization should have different departments that work towards an ultimate goal. An organization should have continuity, where some people leave, while others join the company. There should be a leader who drives the company’s vision in the employees’ often.
Tips for Goal-Setting
Setting goals is vital in achieving success in any company- it can be considered as a standard in determining success. The goal setting process begins with planning and consideration, coupled with working hard and smart (Mind Tools n.d.). However, there are a couple of steps in between to get to the ultimate goal. For instance, an individual should set goals that are motivating to move to the next step (Mind Tools n.d.). The goals should be sensible, urgent, and in tune with priorities. The goals should also be SMART- Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound (Mind Tools). They should be powerful and impactful to make a difference. The goals should be in writing and in touch with an action plan. Lastly, consistency is key. These steps should catapult the employees in the right direction.
Ways to Apply the Five C’s
Leadership is a tasking activity. As a combination of several characteristics, it is a challenging affair. Transformative leaders incorporate the five c’s in their leadership. They are capability, commitment, communication, care, and connection (Sixth, n.d.). A good leader should possess these attributes to push the employees in the desired direction. A capable leader is good at his or her job, especially while executing the vision of the company. Commitment to the values of the company should take the lead. The greatest leaders in history were good communicators- meaning that they listened to the employees’ views and put them to action. A good leader should care for the employees, while creating a deep connection with them.
Strategies for Effective Communication
Great leaders have mastered the art of effective communication. Communication requires proper strategizing. For instance, a good leader should be a good listener. Listening goes beyond hearing what the other person is saying, it involves a clear understanding of the message being sent (Concordia St. Paul, 2016). Asking the right questions is an indication of a good leader-it brings forth chances for better understanding. In a forum, a good leader should possess emotional intelligence to differentiate between his or her emotions and the other people in the room. A good leader should promote transparency in the company, which is a commendable principle in running the affairs of the company.
Approaches to Create or Improve Team Rewards
Employees need motivation to attain the goals set for the company. They can be rewarded for reaching outstanding milestones – this can be done after every quarter. For instance, the employees could be awarded flexible working hours so that they are more productive. Personal days could also be added- to give them ample time to rejuvenate their energies. They could be awarded better benefits, especially in the health industry (Falk, 2017). Employees are a great asset to the company and they should be taken care of; to attain the ultimate goal- to increase productivity and have a higher turnover.
Tips for Minimizing Conflict and Overcoming Resistance to Change
Change is an inevitable factor while running the affairs of the company. As any normal human being, some employees may not be open to change. Conflicts may arise in the office due to these different opinions, and it is the leader’s job to find ways to minimize conflicts and overcome the resistance to change. For instance, effectively involving the employees, especially the opposition. A detailed reason for the change is a good start (Paycor, 2019). The employees need a leader who is ready to listen to their woes and concerns, and apply them while effecting the changes. The changes should be effected in stages to keep the employees’ anxiety at bay (Paycor, 2019). Communication should minimize conflict and ultimately overcome the employees’ opposition to change.
