Traditional learning Vs Online learning
Online learning is a mode of learning that uses the internet to facilitate it. In the recent past, online education has grown significantly as many people have embraced it for being convenient and effective while a number still prefer actual classes. In my perspective, traditional learning is more suitable because it encourages discipline, enables teachers to follow up on their students and keep them motivated, and also gives a personal touch to education. Firstly, traditional learning encourages discipline and organizational skills such as waking early to prepare for school and balancing performance in different subjects. Mostly, institutions of learning have set times for classes to begin, and failure to be on time may affect the student’s grade; on the other hand, online learning allows the learner to take classes at their own time, which may lead to missing the class altogether. Secondly, traditional learning allows tutors to follow up on their students. Allowing them to remain motivated and focused on their learning because feedback from the tutor is faster and more frequent; the presence of a tutor also keeps students actively focused through interactive and exciting activities. Finally, classroom learning is more involving because communication can take place in more that one way, including body language and tone. In the classroom, students can express themselves directly and indirectly to their teachers and other students in the process of learning. This allows other students to benefit from interaction with other students as well as being able to follow up one on one with the instructor. In summary, traditional learning is better suited for study purposes because, apart from knowledge, it also teaches habits and values that later define the students’ character, it provides a holistic approach where there will be communication and feedback among teachers and learners, and keeps students motivated, involved, and focused. For these reasons, I feel that for online learning to be fully efficient, it must be reconsidered more holistically.
