The main idea of the text is the need to build urban centers that allow recreational development and population expansion. The plan should enable sustainable development and support the aesthetic nature of a city. The article focuses on the ideas that Le Corbusier developed to illustrate the importance of city planning through the construction of skyscrapers that adhere to geographical plans and symmetry (Le 367). The need to construct cities that can accommodate more than three million people is the historical context that set the stage for the urban development that le describes. The social issue entailed the need for recreational facilities such as parks that people can use. Significance of universities, industries, and public service entities were the economic factors that Le considered in its architectural plans. Geometrical asymmetry was the primary approach that Le applied to address urban needs as the model would allow the construction of skyscrapers that could accommodate 10000-50000 employees per unit (Le 372). The most significant aspect that I learned from the reading is the emphasis on the importance of building units that could support the expansion of a city and adhere to the protection of environmental resources.

The main idea of the article is to illustrate the importance of photography towards showcasing the architectural development of cities. The study focuses on ‘The Octopus,’ one of the most analyzed historical buildings in New York (Wigoder 152). The study highlights how photography can provide the process of city development as it helps to examine urban transformation, development speed, mechanized transportation systems, and changes in the dynamics. The use of abstraction to draw The Octopus set the historical stage for urban development as the model showed that such paintings proper landscaping that was crucial to the development of other cities such as skyscrapers in Japan (Wigoder 154). The need to incorporate modern artistic culture, support for social intellectualism, and minimize political barriers is the factors that supported the urbanization process. Vertical-horizontalism is the approach that Corbun incorporated into the photographs to address urban needs. The model allowed the construction of modern houses while promoting social needs by enabling planners to invest in civic projects. Planting of gardens on rooftops as green space as an approach to control temperatures in the building was an interesting aspect that I learned from the article (Wigoder 158). It indicated the importance of environmental conservation.
