The Genesis Of Kayla’s Journey In The Media Industry
Stepping foot in the Media industry was one of the best decisions Kayla ever made. Her journey can trace back when she started working in the family business at the age of eight, stuffing envelopes in the summertime with her siblings and friends. Two and a half decades later, she succeeded her father to sit on the CEO’ throne’, after working in practically every position within the company. The start of 2016 saw Kayla intensify her efforts in building her company.
In 2010, Kayla moved to Chicago to work in the media and entertainment as an onscreen performer. A couple of years later, she joined the crew behind the camera in just about every position possible to learn the business. Kayla has a rich experience in content creation, having worked with The Onion, HBO, The History Channel, Second City Communications, Lifetime, Walmart, ATTN, Comcast, Dhoom 3 (Bollywood), the state of New Jersey, and many independent projects. Working behind the camera deeply impacted her desire to create a cultural shift for the entertainment media industry. In 2014, Kayla founded HumanKINDtv to disrupt the way content gets produced and distributed. The returns from HumanKINDtv provides micro-loans for women in the middle east to establish peace in the region.
Elevating Humanity Through Storytelling
Kayla got raised in a business family. When she finally went to college, she discovered the power of language and stories. Besides, she also trained and competed in the USFSA as a figure skater. Her training was averagely 25 hours a week studying with The Calvert School and The University of Nebraska’s online programs. She also attended Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, where she discovered a passion for writing and film acting.
Having formed HumanKINDtv, its mission was to elevate humanity through storytelling. Kayla wrote and developed over 15 television and film concept stories, including outlines, characters, scripts, mood boards, and treatments. Kayla always remembers how she overcame a lot of pain and adversity and wants to help other people to find empowerment through stories and tools. She believes that entertainment and media have the power to transform worlds or poison populations.
Disrupting The Entertainment Media
Kayla has been the GOAT in the entertainment media. She played the lead in Goodnight Wonderland, The Last Plague, and Mayo Girl(short films). Kayla also worked on productions for major brands like The Onion, HBO, The History Channel, Second City Communications, Lifetime Walmart, ATTN: Comcast, Dhoom 3 (Bollywood), the state of New Jersey and many independent projects. Besides, she was also the second city improv for the Actors Ensemble program.
Kayla has also managed the design and implementation of over 80IT and telecom installations across 16 states. She co-created the Women’s Film Festival (6 years running) that hosted over 200+ live screening events to date at their annual festival. She also co-founded the Walnut Club, a social club for professional women, in Philadelphia. Kayla has also participated in 12-15 startups, including ROAR for Good.
Not only does she disrupt the entertainment media industry, but also other life areas. Kayla co-created a family business succession strategy and completed the execution as CEO of a $2.8M company at 32. She sold the business in a four-year structured earn-out that produced a solid return year over year. Kayla has also worked as a business performance advisor at Insperity to help companies to run better, grow faster, and make more money. She has also been a competitive figure skater, winning Philadelphia areas two years in a row after Tara Lipinski.
