Mexico’s Drug War
There is something that is now a topic of significant concern. Today, the drug-cartels have fueled violence, which has turned into a significant war in Mexico. This situation has caused thousands of deaths, and the government has been forced to battle with a gang, which is well-armed. The sad news is that the drug cartels have military quality weapons, all of which come from the US (CBS News 1). The situation has turned horrible in Mexico, and people agree with the government because they blame the government officials who seem to be less concerned about this issue that is now getting out of hands. The criminal groups seem to have good connections in the US because they acquire illegal weapons, which are used to kill innocent people in Mexico.
The issue brings to question who is responsible for these lives, is it the US or the Mexican government? If we look at this matter, both governments have a responsibility to play. Surprisingly, half of what is ceased on the Mexican American borders is not drugs, but weapons. In the past, there have been multiple policies set to ensure there is a war against drug cartels. Unfortunately, a lot of money and drugs come from the US to Mexico, which means there are a lot of loopholes on both ends. (CBS News 1) The society and people on the ground see this problem as something that has developed because of corruption in the police force and the government system. The drug cartels have tremendous economic powers, which make it possible to give money to police and politicians, who will enable them to continue selling drugs, doing human trafficking, and smuggling.
There is a need for the US and Mexican governments to work together so that a sustainable solution can be created. The people who suffer from this war are innocent citizens. The war that has been continuing for years in Mexico has enormous economic and social effects (CBS News 1). Perhaps, there is a need to find a proactive approach that will ensure future generations are safe from this kind of war. The US government should also work hard to get rid of the corrupt official who provides that illegal weapons cross the Mexican border. Although it is not easy, this is possible and might take a lot of time, but it is for the good of the citizens and the economy.
