Community-based programs

Community-based programs are critical in a manner that it is a standard method that is designed to help specific communities in many spheres of life. The design with which the program utilizes depends on the approach of participation in the development of the city. The volunteers of this program are majorly the youth who often have the drive to partake responsibility in the community based social works aimed at achieving set objectives. The program targets the needy, including the aging population in the community. In their endeavors, the participants often have a burning desire to create an environment that encompasses equitability and sustainability solutions (Olfert, 2018). Depending on the tools used, a range of efficacy on the outcomes can be achieved. The results are often not easy to evaluate, especially if the participants are the youth. There is a need to assess the outcomes. The assessment will determine the level of benefit or rather measure the value of the program to the community in question.

Discussion 2

My first take away message from Dr. Bob’s post “Inside a U.S. Coronavirus Containment Zone” is that nurses are a crucial group of health workers in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. At the onset of Covid-19, people around the globe were in a real panic mood. One could hardly know whether or not they were infected by the dreaded disease. So as to counter this, there was a need to carry out mass testing all over the state, and much attention was put in the most hit zones. The nurses were, therefore, the most convenient group to handle the collection of samples from suspected individuals. Secondly, the fight against the disease could be potent if only the turnaround time for the testing of the sample could be shorter. Three- day turn -around time is longer. The medical personnel should device new and faster means of testing such diseases in the event of their occurrence. Nurses should be provided with safety gear that would guarantee their safety in the situation where they are handling a suspected individual.
